Potential Blockbuster - Advice Needed

League in my signature, I'm (obviously) not in a position to compete this year or for the next 2 seasons in all likelihood

I've been batting offers around with a fellow GM and am contemplating offering the following, which I believe he'd accept based on our discussions. I'm just not sure whether I'm giving up too much.


I give:
PK Subban
Tyler Johnson
Tanner Pearson
Coyle

I get:
R. Johanssen
T. Krug
Kuznetsov
Scheifele

I'm giving up the best player (PK) and possibly the 2nd best player (TJ - though it's a bit of a wash with RJ) in the deal, but long term does this work out for me given the upgrades I get on the other two guys?

It's a fairly even trade. In my opinion, Johansen will be the best player of the bunch, but PK and Johnson are no slouches either.

If I were you, i'd try for a little more in return.. Ie. a better defenseman than Krug.. not bad though.

Looking at your team, you're hurting your D badly with this deal, the downgrade from Subban to Krug is IMO too much to do this deal.

How many F do you start though ? If you start 12 F , this could change things up but if you start 9. I don't think it's a move that's helping you much.

Looking at your team, I'd look to upgrade my goalies and D.

Frankly, I would be focusing on a goalie deal if yours was my team. I agree with the above poster that Krug isnt good enough to make me pull the trigger on that. What other D could you get him to put in while keeping the rest of the deal intact?

I agree with most that your D isn't all that deep and downgrading from Subban to Krug I think will hurt you far more than any offensive upgrades you might get out of this deal.

We start 12F/6D/2G. I am aware that my goalies aren't going to knock anyone's socks off (yet - I'm a big believer in Mrazek) but I'm not too worried about that right now since I'm not in a position to compete this year anyway.

The other GM has Yandle and Keith and a bunch of scrubs in his D core. He does have Deangelo on his farm

I also think goalies should be your biggest concern. If you're willing to deal Subban and/or Johnson, I'd try to get a Krug-esque defenseman (i.e. Barrie) and a buy-low goalie like Rask, Bobrovsky (window may be closing there), or Quick. Maybe you could even pry a bigger name (i.e. Lundqvist, Rinne) off of someone with Subban and Johnson. Don't know.

I agree, Johansen is the best player.... but PK is a way better defenseman than Krug. This difference between PK and Krug is way larger than the diff between Johansen and Johnson.
