    Default Alex DeBrincat

Your early season OHL goals and points leader isn't Marner, Strome, or any other name that I've heard mentioned much on these boards: it's Alex DeBrincat.

He had a pretty nice year notching 51 G & 53 A playing w McDavid & Strome. But so far, through 8 games played, DeBrincat is torching the competition sans McDavid, posting 13G & 6A to date. That's a healthy 2.38ppg.

So, my question to those that have seen him: how good is this kid? Not top 30 on ISS. Not on McKenzie's top 2016 eligible players. What gives?

ETA: he has had a 5 AND a 4 goal game this season. Strome didn't play in the 5 goal game. In DeBrincat's 4 goal game, Strome assisted on all of them.

A bit undersized, loads of skill. He is considered by many lists to be a potential first rounder. I think some were wondering how he'd do without McDavid. If he keeps this up all season, he will definitely be a first round pick next year.

Ya, there were some questions on how he'd be able to do without McDavid

With my last pick in one of my drafts I was wavering between selecting him and Abramov (from the QMJHL). Part of me is regretting not taking DeBrincat, though Abramov is also having a good season.

meh...sounds like connor garland 2.0. points arent everything, i'm sure there's a reason why he went undrafted.

DeBrincat? NHL Draft? Still 17. Doesn't turn 18 until Dec

If you are talking about Conor Garland in his draft year he scored 54 points in 51 games as a 5''8 160 lb'er. I could see Conor not getting drafted but DeBrincat will be top 10 in 2016 NHL Draft

yeah, he didn't go undrafted. You might have been confused by my post because I talked about not drafting him with my last pick, but in the league I was referring to we are able to select "draft-eligible" players one, two, or three years away from being drafted.

People were skeptical with Kane at first. I think it was not until december jan of his draft year that he started rocketing up the rankings. Because I still remember looking at his numbers 15-20 games in or so and he was ranked very low. Long season and he could end up being a top 3 pick. Who knows

I think he will go somewhere in the 1st round but top 10 I think you're pushing a bit.

Top 3? Now you're dreaming But like you said, it's a long season.

He's doing very well, but he's shooting at 30% right now. Let's see where he lands by the end of the year.

12 team H2H Most Cats Wins; Keep 6/winner keeps 7; G A PPP +/- SHP SOG HIT BLK PIM // W SV GAA SV% SHO
    3 C, 3 LW, 3 RW, 6D, 2G, 5 bench

    C - McDavid, Crosby, Tavares
    LW - DeBrincat
    RW - Meier, Miller
    D -
    G - Jarry

The 2007 draft was not a deep draft and P.Kane was a special talent. I don't think DeBrincat is a special talent even if he is a really good hockey player (sorry). And he will have to compete with Matthews, Chychrun, Puljujarvi, Laine, Tkachuk, Nylander etc.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying he is in a really tough position to go in the top 10.
