Just a Lending Things out Rant.

This is just a vent rant.

So I ski/snowboard and my friend who I usually go with went to Banff in February for his reading week. He asked me if I could lend him my Scott goggles because they’re really good, and his aren’t the best. I give him the goggles, in a molded hard case, and a soft case (I use both as the soft bag is used as a cloth to clean them). I get them back, missing both cases, and a giant scratch from one side to the other, right in the middle of them. I’m obviously mad and my friend said he’d buy me a new pair when they go on sale, and I just forced him to give me what I spent on them. I’m just remembering that I don’t have a pair of goggles I’d like to use now, and it upset me. My local Sport Chek doesn’t have their winter stuff out yet, and the Oakley Vault (discontinued Oakley products/outlet) website closed down, so now I just have to wait until the winter stuff in stores come out. Don’t you hate it when you lend things out and they come back either missing stuff or damaged?

Is there anyone out there that can tell me even what model my goggles are so I can find a replacement lens? Or if all Scott lenses fit all Scott frames?

I won’t go to Sail or Mec, too pricey.

I can't help you with the goggles but stuff like that pisses me off. Since having similar issues with 'friends' in university, my rule is to only lend out things which I won't miss if they are damaged or never returned.

I think those are Scott Recoil-XI-Pros because of the rounded edges but I'm not 100% sure. The color is called Maze White, that I am sure of. Were they ski or motocross goggles because the Recoils are intended for motocross I think. They can be used for ski as well, but not in extreme cold.

If you want a quick replacement, here's a pair in yellow without the chrome gold lense on Amazon for $50, but they can go for $150+ in sport stores.

Well I bought them at sportchek 2yrs ago so they very well may be Motocross goggles. I have used them in -40C weather and they work fine, and in 30C weather mountain biking at Mt St Louis thinking I was being frugal in the summer. Turns out I was using them for their intended purpose lol.

It’s like a cross between the LCG lens and the Recoil frame… It’s not the same lenses available in the Recoils it looks like. These are odd ones I guess.
