Not great but good goalie talent on a solid team who can get on a hot streak at just the right time is the way I would describe both of these goalies.

It seems that Quick often gets more praise than he deserves while Crawford doesn't get enough at times. When it comes down to it they're both similar IMO, though I have a bit of a bias in favour of Crawford.

Regarding the common opinion; Might be because Chicago had won cups with two goalies a few years ago so "anyone could do it" as opposed to the big playoff performances Quick had on the way to multiple cups.

With two championships to his name now that stigma might shift for Crow.

    Give me Quick.

The Kings have moved out two promising back-ups in Bernier and Jones in the past few years.

    He's their guy.

Crawford's not a bad own but I'd rather have Quick.

This isn't much help but I view them nearly identical.

However, I'll take Crawford for Chicago's off-night schedule.

I think Quick is very overrated in fantasy. I'd prefer Crawford here.

For the sim league I play in we use the past two NHL seasons to rank the goalies. We use a weighted system that includes W, GAA, EV SV%, SV%, SO. Quick and Crawford are the 5th and 6th best goalies over the past two seasons. Quick ended up being ahead of Crawford in both of those years but just barely. These two are basically a coin flip to decide but since you are asking for my opinion I will give it.

I would choose Quick with the main reason being LA is going to be much more motivated for the upcoming season than Chicago will. You need motivation to play defence. Also, replacing Oduya with Daley is going to hurt Chicago a lot more than people expect.

With your setup, I think its pretty close. If you already own Crawford, I would just keep him.

Quick for me, Sutter continues to play defensive first hockey. Crawford lets in so many weak goals I dont think Chitown will hesitate to give their darling Scott Darling a chance to run with it at times this year and maybe beyond further.

Quick is my pick based on Darling's presence. Numbers, as stated above are a relative toss up, and LA should rebound back to being a playoff team.

    Based on Darling's numbers? Really?

A 153rd overall pick with 19 GP as a backup changes your valuation of a 2-time cup winner with a 6 million contract for the next 5 years? Crawford is their man, and Chicago rocks that beautiful off-night schedule.

I would take Crawford. For all the crap he gets, look at the numbers for these two. Quick will get more shutouts, but other than that its a push or advantage Crawford. Quick is very overrated in fantasy.

These are really close, I would go Quick but it's a 55-45% decision in my mind. They really should be going around the same area in the draft

All the crap he gets is wrong.

The reality is if you look at starters over the last 3 years, the amount of time that stat guys say you must consider for goalies, his 5x5 sv% is 9th out of 30 and his adjusted 5x5 sv%, taking into consideration quality of shot, is 4th out of 30. Also, Crawford has the 2nd highest quality start percentage of all starters in the last 3 season (Rask is #1) and has the lowest percentage of blown starts.

So for those people who say Crawford is overrated, he's this era's Chris Osgood, or that any average goalie would get comparable results, those people would be wrong.
