I really, really like what Washington is doing. On top of that, I'm a Holtby believer, and on top of that, Boston is seemingly on the decline, so I think it's a solid move.
I was offered Holtby and the 9th overall pick in the draft for Rask and the 13th pick. Thought about it and accepted it - now second-guessing it! The difference between the 9th and 13th picks could mean me being able to snag one of Zacha, Rantanen, Werenski (who will all be gone by 10). People have been down on Rask lately and high on Holtby but I'm still a Rask believer. The fact that I can now land one of the "biggies" in the draft pushed it over the edge for me.
Is my buyer's remorse justified? Good move? Thoughts?

worth it. washington is a better team as of right now and holtby is younger than rask. maybe rask is marginally more talented than holtby is but the team situation drives a goalie's success.
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
I agree with the above posts.
I think all-in-all Rask is the better goalie, just at this point it's safe to say he's on a worse team. So, really it depends on your cats; in your case they slightly favor volume (i.e. saves/wins), so you may lose out on this one a bit more than you would have otherwise. But I still I think it's a decent deal. The other thing I'll say is that you probably should have come back at him with an offer that had a bigger sweetener in it for you. There's a good chance the other GM would've accepted the deal had he been flatly GIVING you his pick, rather than swapping picks with you. So, although I don't think it's a bad move for you in the least, I think you could have pried a little more out of him, given just how ridiculously high Holtby's current value is relative to his career value.

Both draft picks are a gamble, so i would ignore them here. That makes it Rask for Holtby and you win this for at least the next two years. Holtby will win more games and will have more shotouts.
Right now I think Holtby is superior to Rask. Trading up makes it even better, though I don't think that you can get any of the top forwards at 9th. In my leagues there's usually a run at forwards, e.g. last year Ekblad went at 16th.
definitely good deal for you. i like holtby more as well.
I still prefer Rask to Holtby but the higher pick smoothes the trade out I suppose. Depends on how your draft goes I guess.

I like Holtby going forward.
Nice trade for you, Holtby is part of the elite now.

Boston is clearly on a down path.
I own Rask and I would have accept this deal without hesitation.
Good move!

Good trade; don't doubt your move. I would do that trade straight up without the picks, so that 4 move bump is a great add-on.
Now the question is who will you land with the 9th?
the first 4 we know...after, some names may move up or down, but from my drafts, they typically look like this:
5) Hanifin
6) Barzal
7) Rantanen
8) Zacha
9) Meier, PROVOROV , Crouse, Werenski...
I got my fingers crossed that you will land your boy (Provo) with that pick, but no matter who you get, it's a notch above anyone left at 13!
EDIT: bunch of typos... guess I needed a coffee before posting this

Thanks for the feedback gang. I have to say that's I'm pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming feedback, but I'll take it! Holtby is probably in a better situation when it comes to W and SO in my format - Rask will (should) get peppered and have more SV. Both should start between 65-68 GP.
A year ago, there is no way on earth I would make the trade - that's part of what scares me a little. Also, if the Bruins are fighting for a playoff spot down the stretch and work Rask like a horse, he will be monster. If the Caps rest Holtby, it will be terrible for me lol. But that's the gamble.
I do agree that Holtby will get more W and SO which could give him more points than Rask overall... IF Holtby plays the way he did last year heading into contract negotiations.
Without the pick swap, there's a 96% chance I don't pull the trigger though. IMO, guys like Zacha, Rantanen, Pulkkinen, Barzal, Konecny, Werenski, Meier, Guryanov, Svechnikov, Crouse will all be there in the 8+ range and the guys I would like the best (Zacha / Rantanen / Pulkkinen) will most likely fall 8-9-10. By making this trade, I'm virtually a lock for one of them.
I'm pretty certain the top 9 picks will be...
McDavid, Eichel, Strome, Marner, Hanifin, Sanheim, Provorov, Zacha, Rantanen (not necessarily in that order, outside of the top 2.)
