This isn't a bad idea, I'd just be afraid of getting screwed here. Goalies are very hard to get. But it can't hurt to ask

Take Talbot. If goalies are as scarce as you say they are then I imagine that almost any goalie trade has to involve a goalie gong back the other way. If you are going to be looking to upgrade your goaltending (consolidating roster spots) you are going to have to have enough ammo to give goalie(s) back in an exchange.

I'd take Klingberg here as well. It could take a while on Strome or Marner, meanwhile I think Klingberg's future is looking mighty good.

Yikes. I was hoping Talbot would be available in 2nd or 3rd round of drafts. He isn't worth it in the 1st round imo. Trade down to 5th or take Strome/Marner and use them to try to trade for Talbot if you miss out on him.

I'm taking talbot here. Strome and marner are great prospects but to me are going to God awful teams and are at least 2 years away from relevance. In my opinion talbot could see close to 55-60 starts. He has immediate potential upside. Or even trade value as an nhl starter

I have a similar situation in a 13 teakeep six points only league.Between him and Gibson as a goalie in my back pocket for future stardom. I'll be keeping one of them rather than a 60-65pt forward

Not a huge believer in Talbot but in a league where goalies are worth a lot he's worth a gamble.

I just can't countenance taking Talbot when a can't-miss guy like Klingberg is right there.

To me, the Oilers are goalie-killers until they can show they aren't.

Maybe take Klingberg and offload a dman + for a goalie?

I have a hard time buying Talbot with a pick that high. Even if goalies are really hard to acquire, I'd rather take Klingberg or one of the prospects and trade them for someone more established.

Now that I'm looking more at your entire roster I think I agree with the guys saying to take Klingberg. Good odds he would be your 3rd best dman.

I'll agree with the guys that Klingberg is a good young D...but in a deep draft year to pass on a marner or a strome for a D could be something you regret in the future.

There are always guys like Klingberg who somewhat come out of nowhere. I find it easier to find useable D vs potential stud forwards

Just read this on nhl.com about Klingberg (http://www.nhl.com/ice/blogpost.htm?...d=nhl:topheads). A quote from Nill:
We think we've got a chance of having the next Karlsson," Nill said. "We think he's heading that direction, and if he continues to improve, I think he will be that type of player.
I would have taken Klingberg even before reading that article.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Jim Nill was repeating what Johnny Oduya said about Klingberg.

Does this not help the defense by a little? A lot? A ton?

Also, is Nurse an impact rookie, an average rookie, or a fringe rookie? If you believe in nurse, does he help this team the way say Faulk did for Carolina as a rookie? Or Brodin for Minnesota? Is Nurse a good prospect who is ready, or not? If so, you can make this point d)
I would go with Talbot, Edmonton finally has a different direction in the front office and on the bench. The addition of Sekera top pairing, Nurse hopefully top 4 and Reinhart bottom pairing significantly changes the blueline. Not to mention teams build down the center now, they hit the jackpot in Connor but Big Leon should help whether 3rd line C or as a winger.

Very soon the top 2 in the Pacific will reside in Alberta IMO.
