our league is going by cap hits, fantrax doesnt even support AAV anyways

same reason why rookies and vets aren't being charged for their bonuses....i.e mackinnons AAV would be like 3M+ but instead he only counts for .9M (cap hit) or something like that.

so back to the original point, versteeg should be getting 2.2M.
his cap hit is 4.4 - his cap hit to chicago is 2.2 and florida's cap hit of 2.2

yes but that is irrelevant, we are drafting players by their cap hit, not their AAV. if you want to account for the 2.2M that the panthers retained then we need to use AAV which would mean the versteeg owner would have him at 4.4M and we would need to manually update his salary (along with every player on their rookie ELC, and all vets with bonuses etc which is a pain in the ass for a league this size). besides we all drafted based on cap hits so it's too late to change that now anyways.

But bonuses don't count against the cap do they? I guess what glorybe23 and I are saying is that if it counts against the cap that IS his cap hit, even if it's split between two teams.

    no, his AAV is 4.4

and yes, his cap hit to chicago is 2.2, and his cap hit to florida is 2.2. therefore, his cap hit is 2.2. therefore, the versteeg owner has him at 2.2, because we use cap hits in this league.

bonuses, retained salary etc do not affect cap hits. that is AAV which takes into account the maximum the player could be getting.

i gotta leave work now but hopefully that clears things up, otherwise someone else step in because i don't think i can explain this any better haha.

    thanks Praba,

I was unaware that retained salaries are lumped in with signing bonuses and performance bonuses. Every cap site I look at shows it under their cap hit, which is starting to make my brain hurt.

    versteeg ex:

Phil Kessel is quite the bargain now at 6.8 instead of 8 from last year.

    re: Fantrax Salaries.
We are using whatever Fantrax lists for "cap hit".
For players with retained portions with their previous teams... yeah, it can seem a bit low.

That said - I have no desire to change this or police it as an extra item.
For this year, 2015-2016, no change... whatever Fantrax lists is "the number".

    re: Proposals to Rule Changes.
We'll address proposed rule changes every month of May.
GMs can bring up topics at that time and we'll discuss them & vote, applicable to future year(s).

    Hey guys,

I volunteered to help FHG with a beta test of a new tool they are introducing. One of the features of this tool is the league standing projection.

I thought it would be neat to circle back after the year is over to see how the actual final standings compare to the projected standings. Keep in mind trades and other player movement will have a bearing on the final outcome of our league standings.

One of the issues FHG hasn't resolved yet is the majority of the 2015 draft class are not in their data base yet so they can't be saved to each of our teams. But McDavid, Eichel & Hanifin ARE in their data base so they are included in the projections for the teams that drafted them. In all cases, the players not included are on the various farm teams so their omission should not impact the projections.

So, using the team roster page from Fantrax as of Sept 7/15, the final standing projection for the WHL is:

    1.Halifax Krackens: 1333 fantasy points
    2.Markham Waxers: 1302 fantasy points
    3.Wheeling Nailers: 1291 fantasy points
    4.Saanichton Cougars: 1275 fantasy points
5.Victoria Dead Hookers: 1259 fantasy points
6.Highland Scotch Hounds: 1249 fantasy points

    10.CSKA Moscow: 1180 fantasy points

I look at those standings and think:

"Maybe I know what I'm doing."

Then I look at my goaltending and I'm not so sure... but hey, at least Franson has signed now!
