Calgary selects goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood.
With the 44th pick, Tampa Bay selects, from the Oshawa Generals, defenceman Mitchell Vande Sompel.
MVS, as he will become affectionately known to own fans, fills an organizational need for a strong skating, puck-moving defenceman in our development system. His high hockey IQ makes him an ideal addition to our team.
From Corey Pronman: "He's a great skater, with quick, active feet and the speed to gain the zone with ease. He shows the comfort leading the play and attacking, as one would imagine for a player who grew up a forward. He's skilled (though not amazingly so) with the puck. However, Vande Sompel is at a very high level in terms of his hockey IQ. He's quite advanced defensively given his development track and quite effective positionally for a smaller player. His upside is tantalizing."

Calgary selects goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood.
With our first selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, because we traded our first rounder to the Oilers who almost got another shot at the McDavid lottery but ended up winning it anyways...the Pittsburgh Penguins are proud to select, from the Chicoutimi Saugeens of the QMJHL, Nicolas Roy

The Winnipeg Jets are proud to select, from the Regina Pats of the WHL, Austin Wagner.
Austin boasts a strong 200 ft. game, blazing speed, and a frame built for the rigors of the NHL. Chevy is confident that Austin's hands will very soon match his speed, and that the Jets are fortunate to grab this future stud in the second round.
Ottawa selects winger Zach Senyshyn from the Soo Greyhounds.
AN Ottawa boy who Has played just one year in the O. Great skater, nice skill set and has just scratched the surface playing behind studs on the Greyhounds. Will look to move out of their shadows in the next two years.
Dallas Stars select Travis Dermott, defenseman from the Erie Otters.
Dermott has played with a lot of top talent over the years and will not find the current makeup of the Stars any different. He has great intelligence, but lacks size. At only 18, there is still plenty of time for growth.

Brad Treviling comes out from under the stands, visibly shaken up and looking a little dissheveled. "Sorry everyone, Burke came at me trying to show me what trucculent meant, and by the time I was done he made sure Conroy picked Blackwood. I'm the GM here and I'm in charge.... (looks over to the side, sees Burke glaring him down like how he would usually deal with James Duthie. Treviling instantly shuts up).
With the 52nd pick, Calgary picks Mitchell Stephens, C from the Saginaw Spirit:

With the 53rd pick, the Flames decide to keep things in the family and pick Parker Wotherspoon, D. He came in like a beast at the combine with the lowest body fat % of anyone tested, and a smooth skating D with some offensive upside to combine with his brother Tyler, we feel there is a chance for these brothers to be Calgary's 2nd pairing combo in the years to come.
