In my opinion, he is making the most of his situation. Live abroad while he can. Experience a bit of Europe and get paid money. 500k earned now will be a fair chunk of change in 10 years time. Sounds like whoever is advising him understands money. I know one thing. If PM Bouchard played in the WHL, he would dominate that league.

If I was in his situation, I’d either be a NCAA player, or European player. The whole, “NHL or CHL till you’re 20” is a turn-off for me. He plays in Europe this year, next yr gets drafted and can be slotted into the teams minor league system and get paid ~$60k/yr (~$6k/month) I think. If you’re in the CHL you’ll get ~$1,500/month for living expenses and that’s it.

100% I’d go to Europe if I was still able to get drafted (top ranked player). Get money money money, get money money.
