Pretty reputable site projecting a lot of parity throughout the league.
I don't follow baseball enough to really get a sense of who's on the way up and who's on the way down, but the Orioles at 79 wins seems low to me, considering they had 96 last year. Any insight on why that could be?

Cleveland seems fair but I'm hoping they improve from the 85 wins last year.

I fully expect the Phillies to be one of the worst, if not THE worst team in the league this season. But stranger things have happened. With that division, maybe they'll sneak out a few more low scoring wins. I need Baltimore to continue their winning way and Cleveland to make the next step to have a outside shot at this thing.

Losing Markakis and Nelson Cruz is going to take a big bite out of their offense. Theres still a lot of questions surrounding other players like Machado, Weiters and Chris Davis. All that being said, I do agree that 79 wins seems low. I can see them as a low to mid 80 wins team.

The AL East, for the first time in a long time, is one big question mark. Baltimore is right in the middle of it.

Their bullpen is going to have to carry that team if they are to compete for the AL East division title.
Exactly my point. Baltimore won 96 last year with a "mediocre" pitching staff full of 3-4 starters. Basically every team in the AL east has a pitching staff full of number 3-4 starters on most rotations. Having a staff ace is key in the playoffs when you need a guy to steal a game or two. But during the long regular season it is less of a concern. What you really need are guys who can pitch 180-200 innings throughout your rotation. I my opinion, the additions of Miley and Masterson can help fill those needs.

I think what sets the Red Sox apart from Toronto, New York, Baltimore and Tampa is the offense and what appears to be a very good bullpen in that division.

But we don't really know how this will all pan out until the games are played. And the fat lady sings, of course.

That's true, that could have an effect but they've been solid for three years in a row (minimum 85 wins in that time). Though Markakis has been there for all that time so he could be the key loss. Maybe they don't hit 90 wins but in that division, I wouldn't be surprised. Should be interesting.

Arizona, Colorado and Atlanta have been some of the early season surprises so far this year.

Meanwhile, the Nationals, Mariners and LA Angels of Anaheim have been some of the bigger disappointments.

NoWayOut has seen a Mets 11-game win streak vault him to the top of the standings! My three teams have combined for 10 wins each which is really showing the parody throughout the league. Zorro has seen a solid start from the Yankees help push him near the top of the standings.

Despite a solid start from the Royals, Axeman has to be disappointed by the Nationals and Brewers start. Meanwhile, horrorfan has seen scuffling starts from the Indians and Orioles keep him near the bottom of the standings.

The Mets start has been a very pleasant surprise. The Cards have been just what I expected when I took them with the 4th pick. But I'm kicking myself for listening to my heart and not my head with the Rangers. Oof. I had been debating them, the Astros or Rays with my last pick. In hindsight either one of the Astros or Rays would have been a much better choice. We'll see if the Mets can keep it together and keep me near the top. They're going to have to, to counter balance the Rangers.

There's been talk of Josh Hamilton getting traded back to Texas, but unless he can regain is old form, stay clean, and suddenly discover a way to play outfield and pitch simultaneously it's not going to make a huge difference.

Ruh roh! Just saw a story on Yahoo, looks like Adam Wainwright tore his Achilles. He's scheduled for an MRI tomorrow, but the team is already saying they fear that's what occurred.

Yeah, between this and the Rangers woes, my stay at the top is likely to be short-lived.

    New month, new update:

    1. Zorro..............................42 wins
    2. Nowayout........................41 wins
    3. Bondon............................40 wins
    4. TheWhale.........................38 wins
    5. Dobber............................36 wins
    6. TheNugeCooge..................36 wins
    7. Axeman...........................33 wins
    8. Metaldude........................32 wins
    9. austeane..........................32 wins
    10. horrorfan........................27 wins

With both the Yankees and Dodgers leading their respective divisions, Zorro has jumped into first place. Nowayout is still holding strong, riding a resurgence from his first pick St. Louis Cardinals and their current 5 game win streak. Meanwhile, both Bondon and TheWhale have seen some impressive showings from their final picks: the Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros.

The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians are realizing how tough that AL Central is and are bringing down their owners; Metaldude and horrorfan, along the way. Although the Diamondbacks have been a surprise for austeane, sputtering starts from both the Athletics and Blue Jays have helped keep him near the bottom of the standings.
