Mike Green injury

Mike Green sustained an upper-body injury against the Sabres.
The Capitals defenseman will not return to the game. Green played 10:56 and had four shots on goal. He has 12 points on the season. Green has been a very productive defenseman in his career, but that comes with the fact he can't seem to stay healthy for a full season

yes. gnarly hit into the boards. i don't want to speculate but it didn't look like his head. maybe ribs/shoulder? but honestly the way he crumpled it could have been any number of things. i guess on the bright side "upper body injury" means it wasn't the same wonky groin that used to cause him so many difficulties.

either way, this couch doctor thought it looked pretty serious. niskanen could be in for a huge upswing.

green called "day to day," but he's not practicing. i'm sticking to my guns that this is a multi-week thing.

i truly believe niskanen will be the big winner as a caps fan. but you're probably right that carlson gets PP1 back, at least for now. but i think niskanen might start seeing 25 minutes a night plus increased time with the extra man.
