Malkin's value going down ?

I'm curious if Geno's value is plummeting in your leagues .
In my league(sig), I could not get either Seguin, McKinnon straight up or even Hedman plus a prospect for him .
I was offered Jacob Trouba and Brock Nelson !!!!


I guess I'll be "stuck" with him for a while :-)

i've noticed similar in my league. i also went after mackinnon as i am more geared for a down the road championship. the mackinnon owned said no way and wouldn't even counter, as if malkin was some washed up has been. it seems there is a trend to over-focus on the young/future stars than the more established stars. of course with malkin there is also the injury thing, but injuries or not, he is still mighty valuable in most settings. there are worse players to be "stuck" with, so ride him til he's done. if you really want to move him, wait until he shows durability and is putting up monster points...i bet you'll have no problem moving him then.

In this case he is worth more to your team than he is in a trade. So keep him. Profit.

I was asked about Giroux for malkin

and I prefer Giroux at this point in time.

I owned malkin last few years and hes been frustrating. Now that I don't have him he will likely break 100 though

I have been an on and off Malkin owner for the past 2 seasons. His value has definitely gone down and hasn't been lower over the past 2 years. That said, he is still a top 5 guy to own and if nobody is willing to give up good value for Malkin then it isn't the worst thing to be "stuck" with him. Other than Sid he is the next best bet to hit 100 points in any given year.

Yep. If you can't get anything but rubbish offers like Hedman and a prospect for Malkin, then sit and wait. His value will be extremely high if he stays healthy. At that point you might want to just keep him, but remind yourself how low his value was when he had an unhealthy season and decide whether it's time to trade him. If he can stay somewhat healthy (70 gp) he should top 80 pts. At that point you should be able to get a much, much better offer than the junk you've been getting.

Injuries are the cause. I shopped him around pretty aggressively before last season and couldn't get an offer anywhere near worth it. So I've just kept him.... Darn I have to hold onto a guy capable of 115 points.

I don't care what people think his value is, I think he's the second best forward to own in hockey. Period. And I'll never trade him in the one league I'm in, and I'll pay out the ass (if the other owner will ever sell, which they won't) to acquire him in the other two leagues.

Last time people started crapping on his value, he won the scoring title.

The only way Malkin hits 100 is if Sid goes down again. He has really only had one great season the past 4 and that was when Sid was out. In most formats I rate him below Giroux. He is 2nd fiddle to Sid and there is a ceiling on him as long as Sid is healthy. This is a fact and people are starting to catch on. He has missed significant time in each of the past 5 seasons. Plus he has been injured at the worst time, the fantasy playoffs, the past 2 years running. I tried to move him for Seguin in the offseason but was rejected. Ended up moving him for Backstrom and some upgrades at other spots. He could easily have a great season and just as easily miss 25 games. The element of chance has lowered his perceived floor.

I don't think it's a matter of his value is going down as much as it is the players you are asking for and their current value being inflated.

I am sure the guy who offered you Trouba thought it was a fair deal for both sides as he no doubt over-values Trouba as well.

It's crazy I tell ya, crazy!!

Why would you want to trade one of the best players in the game anyway??
