I need NFL keeper help ASAP!! Please help Z..

League details: 12 team PPR keeper league.. We keep two players each year.. Standard cat-stats other then the obvious PPR..
Positions: QB, RB, RB WR, WR TE, FLEX(rb,wr,te), K, and DEF.. And 6 bench spots..

I have the 1st pick overall in our inaugural draft, which is tmrow night.. Who do I take and please explain why??

Right off the bat I thought: I have to take McCoy(age 26), Peterson(29), or Charles(27)..

Then I was thinking: hmmmmmmmm, maybe I should take Rodgers(30)..

Or do I take Green(CIN), Jones(ATL) or Graham(NWO)??

I'm just wondering what you all think about taking a RB as a keeper just because they don't last long at all??

I would take McCoy. To me, he's the best option at RB and RB's are pretty much always a must keep, especially an elite one like McCoy. There is a TON of quality WR in the draft and you can always find solid QBs in the mid rounds.

McCoy would be my choice.

I don't do keepers in football but if faced with this decision it really comes down to the point scoring in your league. In my league, QB's can put up anywhere between 2 to 4 times the points of a really good day for an RB. As such, QB's are the most valuable. Who is the usual point getting position in your league? Can't see your point weighting.

If QB - Rodgers is a no doubter. I'm a die hard Bree's fan but his age is not great keeper material.
If QB - McCoy and closely followed by Charles IMO.

Charles is a PPR wet dream [ahem], that said, if you are concerned w/age then McCoy would be a very close second. The magic age to sacrifice RBs to "He Who Walks Behind the Rows", is 29. AP will be the exception that proves the rule. No matter what we fantasy GMs think of their talent, statistically 29 is the drop off. Rookies and second year RBs get worked into the rotation more and more, thereby reducing the fantasy production of the elder RB.

The is some concern with KC's OL, and lack of WR depth and how it will affect JC's production. Personally, I don't think it will, but it is worth mentioning. QB's are deep so I would go McCoy and then target Stafford in round five...maybe Matt Ryan too.

I agree that I'd be looking at RB with the #1 pick (as mentioned, there are some outstanding options at QB further down the board -- Stafford, Luck, Ryan to name a few). My preference is McCoy due to age and a stronger offensive supporting cast in general.

But a question regarding league set up that was a bit unclear to me from the original post: aside from the flex spot, do you start only 1 RB and 1 WR? If so, one could make a case for using the #1 pick to snag one of the truly elite WRs as your primary keeper to build the team around (Calvin, Dez, Green, Julio in my book in a dynasty format). RBs would be in slightly less demand in that format, meaning a really nice keeper option could even be available on the way back who wouldn't be there ordinarily. That'd be a really peculiar path to take from the top of the draft order, but could pay nice dividends.

I am now leaning towards McCoy.. I see Charles as being fragile for some strange reason.. AP at age 29 scares me..

Definitely going WR/WR in rounds 2 and 3.. Two of: A.Brown, Patterson, Jeffery, Nelson, Allen, or Cobb should be around..

I managed to get McCoy and Rivers too. I actually had Griffen III as well. But managed to flip him in a deal for Lacy.

I nabbed Nelson as my #1 WR. When you grab another guy there at Rd 3, you'll have a great start.

Lacy is top five and on the verge beast-dom, but McCoy is the pick at one. IMO...

I agree with Bomm. I really do like Lacy and am not saying that he's fated to a similar outcome by any means, but lots of folks had Doug Martin as a can't miss next big thing going into last season based on what he flashed in his rookie year. Just an example that the adage of proven over potential can be a useful principle to weigh in the fantasy football realm too.

So here's how it went down: 1st overall I selected McCoy.. Some RB'S went but a huge run of WR'S went.. It came back to me at pick 24 and not one QB had been selected, not one..

So I grabbed L.Bell(PIT) and AARON RODGERS.. I was so pumped, I got both guys I wanted going in..

Round 4 and 5 I needed to grab 2 WR'S so I took Edelman(ppr beast) and Roddy White..

Rounds 6 and 7 I shored up my starters with TE: Rudolph(MIN) and flex Boldin(SF)

Rounds 8 through 16: K.Wright, Wayne, F.Jackson, Ingram, Hartline, J.Rodgers, DEN, Haushka, NYJ(just because they play OAK 1st round)..

Good looking team, I’ll say a B+ draft (if you’re in Yahoo! it tells you). White will get a lot of Gonzalez catches now that he’s gone. Edelman is Bradys #1 target in a throwing system, good pick. Some suggestions bolded below, but nothing major

QB: Rodgers
RB: McCoy
RB: L. Bell
WR: Edelman
WR: R.White
TE: Rudolph
Flex: Boldin (With Crabtree he won’t be as great, but good bench guy)
Def: Denver (they won’t amazing I don’t think)
K: Haushka
BEN: K. Wright (if this is the Ten. receiver he should be in your flex over Boldin)
BEN: Reggie Wanye?
BEN: F. Jackson (good bench guy)
BEN: Ingram (dont start this guy if he has 1 great week. NO rbs are streak. Start if he plays a bad team)
BEN: Hartline
BEN: J. Rodgers
BEN: NYJ (stream)
I’d suggest going after Shonn Greene. And also look at the Philly kicker (Parkey or Pakey or something like that) if Haushka falters, they just named the rookie the starter and people are still drafting the guy who got cut over him.
