Yup this is a good point depending who you can get from the WW as a replacement when Malkins injured, I ran the number on a per game basis and Malkin takes 5 out of the 8 stats, with Hall being better per game with SOG,HITS, and Goals.Originally Posted by vitun-tyhmä

Add me to the "must be crazy" list. I love me some Taylor Hall... So maybe I'm bias... But now seems like the best time to snap up Hall and and the 1st is a bonus. To me... That's very good return for a fragile Malkin who I think... Soon... May be in flux... (Trade rumours scare me)

I also would take the deal. It might be the exact right year to do it. In the long run Hall will be trending upward while Malkin will come down. This still might take a bit but the should get closer every season. With the rest of your team besides Sedin the age fits way better with Hall as well. Plus he is a LW as it has been pointed out.

Now this is the type of info that should have been in the OP. When I see a 1st round pick, one assumes its a prospect draft. This makes the deal a hell of a lot closer for me and make me reconsider my original thoughts.

The GM didn't want to trade a 1st to get Geno after all and backed out.. He also has Pacioretty and a few other players J would unlikely to swindle away (tavares, kopitar)
Would Pacioretty be an upgrade of sedin? Maybe slightly in age but the sedins could have a swan song season under the new management.

Sedins will rebound this year but I still think Pacioretty will outpoint Daniel by 2 to 7 points this year and more going forward; not to mention the fact that you count hits and Pacioretty is definitely an upgrade over Daniel.
