I'm sitting at work today listening to my Classic Rock folder.
Arlo Guthrie comes on.
Alice's Restaurant.

So - this month's theme: Songs with Stories.

For those of you that haven't heard this song, pretty fun voice to listen to.
Makes me smile... every. time.
Guaranteed to perk up your Friday. {Then we both started jumping up & down yelling 'kill, kill, kill'... LOL}

I am an old hick so I love my Maritime music/country and there is no better story teller that I sing and play on my guitar than the legend himself, Stan Rogers. God knows he's had his fair share of classics when it came to songs with a story involved. It's hard to find many performances online of Stan Rogers as he died back in 1983 in a plane crash.

In this one, the first 1:40 is part of the documentary about Stan Rogers, then the song picks up. One of my favorites for sure.



Then again, there is the man known as simply The Storyteller himself, Tom T. Hall.

But I'm of the view that the greatest ever album that told a "story" is The Who's Quadrophenia. Everyone thinks of Tommy, but Quadrophenia is an absolutely brilliant story about a young Briton with four personalities, each personality of which is the subject of several songs represented by one of the four band members. It's amazing.
