Trading Quick, what can I get?

I'm looking at trading away Quick to another GM for Brian Elliott. Given that downgrade, I can ask for an upgrade somewhere else.

I was thinking Couture or Okposo for Kessel OR Johnson or Trouba or D. Pouliot for Subban.

1) Where do I need an upgrade?
2) What can I get?
3) What's the best way to get it?

Its points-only, 1/goal, 1/assist, 2/win, 2/shutout. 6 forwards, 4 defenceman, and 1 goalie with 5 bench and 9 prospects. Having Elliott/Allen allows me to get all 82 games perfectly in from St.Louis, and the points I'll get from that is arguably approximately the same that Quick/Jones will get, and this way I don't have to spend a draft pick to acquire Martin Jones, AND I get an upgrade to Kessel/Subban/whoever.

I would try Quick/Kuznetsov for Elliott/Kessel as an opening offer. IMO, Quick really is that far ahead of Elliot, especially since he'll be in a timeshare with Allen.

I would ask for one of Kessel/Kopitar/Subban - you're taking a pretty serious downgrade here.

With Quick, Allen and Bernier... I don't really understand the move. You have the present in LA and Toronto and the future in ST. Louis. If you want to corner the market in St.Louis (ill advised IMO considering Elliot's hot/cold tendancies), I'd sooner keep Quick/Allen and try and max return out for Bernier. I don't see Toronto's defence getting that much better any time soon.

I guess I just look at your goalie tandem and say "DAMN! I wish i had that group!"

Well, with only 82 games available, and the bull of the points coming from WINS, bernier is only as valuable as Toronto's success. Not much faith there. With Elliott, sure it's a downgrade, but quick's 60 games plus 22 games from Allen won't get me much more than Elliot/Allen splitting time but still adding up to 82 GP. If taking this downgrade means I can turn kuznetsov into kessel or subban, it's a great deal for me. I know he's weak on defence, so maybe I could offer a decent defenceman up for the Phil, but who? Trouba? Johnson? I feel both will be insultingly low, and weber is way too high. I also have the 1st overall pick to trade.

i think your team will do fine. i don't see the need to deal quick. i'd trade Allen + defenseman for a defenseman. That's where you need the help.

Allen + Campbell for Harding + McDonaugh.

Upgrades your D, and you could possibly get a #1 goalie in harding.

But i wouldn't trade quick to try and upgrade your forwards

why do you think you need to trade him? that would leave you without a true #1
