If Luke Schenn has a place in their top 6. There is definitely a place for Del Zotto.
I think the Flyers made a good move taking a chance on MDZ. It's only 1 year and cheap. Worst case he fills a hole on the last pairing. On the other hand he could fit well on PP2 and produce decent numbers. He did it before and he's still young.

FOUR TIME DEFENDING CHAMPION
Decent landing spot and for a bit more money that I thought. One last chance for the MDZ.......I pegged him as a sleeper in the guide and think he will bounce back.
Cheers.
I bet he has a bounce back season in Philly, if he does it will likely save his career
At this point he has to know that he's nearing the end of his rope, time to get serious or say bye bye to the NHL
He just does not contain on the defensive end and was a turnover machine for NY.
With the puck on his stick or when an opposing forward approaches him MDZ will step up nicely to make a serious hit.
So as long as he doesn't touch the puck in his own zone, or has the puck with his head up between the bluelines or accepting the backpass on the point its all good.
There is a lot to like about him both as a player and a person. He knows his weaknesses but just doesn't seem capable of adjusting to them.
Philly could sure him to "get it" and become a serious minutes eater for them.
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
****. This guy sucks.
