    Default Legitimate offer for Karlsson?

    Heyo!

So this Karlsson owner is one of those one if any trades a year types, just tries to win through good drafting and his core. I'm thinking of offering up Pietrangelo+Parise(+?), to little? Overpayment? I have no idea with this one and I don't wanna scare him off with my 1st communication.

The absolute worst to try to deal with. I have guys like that in some of my leagues and it's kind of like if you don't overpay and wow them off the bat you never hear back.

Pietrangelo and Parise could probably be construed as fair value from your end as long as you still believe Karlsson keeps banging out 70+ points a year (which I do). Basically a 50 point D man + 65-70 Pt fwd for a 70+ point D man. Especially in a limited keeper (where consolidating talent is huge) this is good to go IMO.

It's a legitimate offer, see what he says but with GMs like that it's near impossible to get them to take even a good deal

I don't generally like to spread my talent over multiple players so I'd probably decline this deal but I wouldn't consider it insulting or anything like that

If I had Karlsson, I wouldn't make the deal.

One, it is a limited keeper. I almost always want the best player in those leagues.

Two, it's not really just Piet/Parise for Karlsson. It's actually Piet/Parise for Karlsson/whoever would be replaced. So unless the other GM has a scrub in that spot, it's likely not a great deal for that GM.

not insulting, but I'd probably not accept that deal if I owned Karlsson. the problem with Karlsson is that he is so good that it just doesn't make sense to deal him. If Karlsson is a 70-75 pt dman and Pietrangelo is a 50 pt dman, I don't necessarily need someone like Parise. I could grab any number of 55 pt forwards available in a draft to pair with Karlsson and I'm still further ahead than I am with Pietrangelo and Parise.

Hmmm so he'd be replacing Oshie most likely, I could step my offer up some. I think I'll try just ask if he's available without offering anything at first.

If it's Oshie, I definitely wouldn't make the offer. I'd take Karlsson/Oshie over Piet/Parise every single time.

Yeah, you could just kick the tires on him.

I'm not sure anyone ever answers "Yes" when you say "Is Erik Karlsson available?", especially if this guy is tough to work trades with.

I wouldn't consider it insulting, but I wouldn't make the deal.

If you think Karlsson is a 70+ pt defenseman, you don't take plus/minus or PIM's into account, limited keeper...

I didn't see how many players you play, but even with that, it doesn't matter. Unless I had Karlsson and a bad team around him, and was offered three or four really good players, I wouldn't trade Karlsson.

I have him, for three more years at a decent price, and there's no way I'm getting rid of him before the last year of his contract.
