    Default Massive Dynasty trade

Well had a trade go through the other day, snowballed into a massive deal. Both teams addressed some needs but overall wanted to get the temperature from the team here at Dobber on how they see it.

League info first, its a 12 team dynasty league H2H setup, postions are:
    c c lw lw rw rw d d d d util util g g b bbbbb
Stats are: Goals, Assists, PPP, GWG, HITS, PIM, BLKS, WINS, GAA, SV%,
    Saves, SO

    Team 1 sends
    Getzlaf

    Miller

    Team 2 sends
    E Kane
    C Schneider
    RNH
    OEL

Given the shallow rosters and multicat nature of the league, Getzlaf and Giroux are by far the best players in this deal. Kane hasn't proven much yet and RNH isn't great for multicat. Schneider is the better goalie, but it's H2H where that isn't as important, and Miller will be serviceable. I would rather fill out my D with PIM/HIT/BLK defesnemen on the cheap then OEL and Fowler.

    Getzlaf/Giroux side easily for me.

The team that got Getzlaf and Giroux wins by a landslide. They are both 85pt players were Ekane and Nuge are VERY lucky to hit that in 2-3 years. Not to mention Chara is still better than Fowler.

Holy cow, there are some big names there. My first instinct is to say the Getzlaf side won, but Miller and Chara are aging and won't be relevant. In another couple of seasons. However, if you want to win now, and still have some left. In the tank for future seasons, the Getzlaf side still gets my vote.

In a multi-cat with not many goalie categories; the Getzlaf slide by 200% for me!

Well obviously the needs of Team 1 were to get younger at tougher positions to fill (goal and elite D), while Team 2 appears to be going all-in for the win on the forwards. Hopefully they have another goaltender as I am not certain Miller will be the answer for wins or GAA unless he finds his game once again. And with 5 out of 12 categories for goalies, there's a significant risk going forward.

I voted for the Giroux/Getzlaf group only because I think the spread of the three forwards outweigh the other side by just enough... I can't quite trust what exactly Kane and RNH will develop into yet, but if I'm rebuilding this is the type of deal Team 1 should have asked for. Getting Schneider is key here.

It's a great trade all around, I like to see deals like this!

I like the smaller pieces on the second option better: Schneider + OEL > Chara + Miller

But Sweet Zombie Jesus! That doesn't change the fact that the first side wins on the big pieces: Getzlaf + Giroux >>>>>> RNH + E. Kane

I assume that Side One is in Win-Now mode and that Sies Two is rebuilding a bit, but wow...

This is a massive trade. But yea, even with the age discrepancy, gotta go with the Giroux/Getz side. Those two players are just too elite right now to let age swing it back.

I'm taking Getzlaf's side of this deal. The other side as some nice parts, but not enough to make it an even trade I believe.

    Here's my take:
Getzlaf > Kane (If Kane realizes his potential this could even out quickly. Similarly )
Giroux > RNH (no chance this is ever even)
Miller < Schneider (Just a gut feeling)
    Okposo = OEL (60ish point fwd for a 45 pt d man)
Chara = Fowler (solely based on age)

Team 2 definitely gets much younger and they add some pretty solid potential. If the team is in need of D this makes this more attractive as well.

Right now they give up 2 of the top 10 fantasy players in the league so that makes it very tough to swallow right off the bat. However, they shipped out declining assets in Chara and Miller. I also don't care much for Okposo so I'd move him if I had him too. Selling high IMO.

It's not even by any stretch, but it could be rationalized I suppose.

    Yup...considering next 3 years...

    Getz >> RNH
    Giroux >>> Kane
    Chara < OEL
    Miller < Schneider
    Okpso > Fowler

For me... Getz/Giroux wins now and over the next 3 years. Perhaps if RNH lives up to expectations that may change eventually...but I don't forsee Giroux/Getz falling of any time soon. At best the RNH side catches up with the Getz/Giroux side but exceed...???... I think not.
