Default Angus' top-50 NHL Players List

One of the greatest hockey minds this place has seen has published the first part of his annual top-50 NHL Players List. Always worth a read.

I didn't know Jeff Angus even wrote about fantasy hockey anymore. I thought he was simply doing the physical fitness stuff now.

"Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia is a town of just over 25,000 people. Yet somehow it has produced the greatest hockey player on the planet as well as the greatest teenage hockey player on the planet. Is there something in the water? Sidney Crosby maintains his spot as the top hockey player on the planet after capturing another Art Ross Trophy. Nathan MacKinnon dazzled fans with an unbelievable first round postseason performance. Did the 18-year-old phenom crack the top 10?"

An interesting way to start his article. Funny part is, there is someone else from Cole Harbour NS who had the Stanley Cup parade through that part of the city before Sidney ever did. Anyone want to harbour a guess as to who that was?

No to both guesses, but Marchand is closer than Richards. Brad Richards is from Murray Harbour, PEI. Marchand is actually from Hammonds Plains, another suburb of Halifax.

These lists are not of much value for fantasy hockey, but they are always good as a talking point, which is Jeff's forte. I'll be interested to see the top end of this when he releases it.

The only two NS players besides Crosby & Marchand that I can think of who have won the cup in the last ten years are Jon Sim and Colin White, but neither are Haligonians.

I was at the parade when he went through with the Cup. I wasnt able to see Crosbys parade as I was working, but luckily he got flown into the dockyard in Halifax on a SeaKing and he flew in with the Cup and landed on the back of the tanker. It was awesome!
