Thats dumb, he's already shown to produce. IM just staying he doesn't want the constant shit that him playing in Philly would bring.

Ryan last year would have had 70 points easy without injury. How people forget.

Just like Jason Spezza has said for 10 years how he wanted to be a Sen forever? Players say these things because they're supposed to, not necessarily because they mean it.

And good thing for Ryan, there's only a handful of teams in the league where he'd be the main star. And none of those teams will be in on signing him, anyway.

If this is the case why was he brought up in trade rumors for like 3 or 4 years? And he never exactly did a lot to dispel them, in fact I remember him all but asking out on multiple occasions. Obviously I don't have any super inside information, just like you don't....all I can do is go off of reports I've read. And those reports all said pretty much the same thing....the relationship with the Ducks was not great.

He was in Carlyle's dog house for a couple of years and his name had the most value on the trade market while we were looking to add a 2nd line center at the time. Much like Marleau in SJ, if the team wasn't doing well his name would come up in rumors. He asked out one time because he was sick of hearing all the rumors and pretty much said trade me already, but then him and Murray made up. And then Getzlaf and Perry re-signed to big contracts so there was not going to be enough cap space for Ryan, that is why he was dealt.

you should probably take the more conservative road with your thoughts of Ryan signing longer term with Sens .

my hunch would think he'd prefer closer to home (NJ,Philly)but for the sake of the sens future I'd hope he stuck around ottawa .

He doesn't care about playing close to home. He lives in Idaho in the summers. His home was a dysfunctional one.

He has no interest in playing for Carlyle. Leafs didn't have much of a choice when he left, really. He'd never go back IMO.

I would be surprised if he didn't sign long-term here, being close to his family and playing for a system he likes and has had success in.
