It's a one thing when your entire team is playing like shit and a guy makes a comment that guys need to step up.

It's a different story when it's a play involving two players and one guy says there was no confusion, i was running to the ball and was called off so i peeled off. Anyone with half a brain and at least one eye knows that was Goins' fault. Doesn't need to be reinforced in the media.

I love him as a player but as a person he seems like a ****ing *******.

As was said though, he knows it was his mistake - no need to beat him up about it. He's a big part of why they're here in the first place.
And the inning didn't have to be a catastrophe because of one play. It's not like they had to overcome 3 consecutive errors on routine plays AND a catch-able popup falling.

I think Bautista is one of the greatest hitters in Blue Jays history, right up there with Alomar, Carter, Olerud, Delgado etc.
But even his biggest fan must admit he's a often a big whiny baby, and a lot of his antics are going to be remembered, sadly, instead of what a great player he was. Let's see if he can put his performance where his mouth is and show up with a clutch performance tonight.
Any American will remember him as a cry-baby if he does not come up huge from here on out. He’s got to be great defensively, offensively and clutch. If he is even average, people will only remember him being a baby who are not Jays fans.

I was going with the angle Jays fans (Canadians for the most part) at least know he’s normally like this, but he’s a great player so it’s stomachable sometimes. But an American (nonjays fan) doesn’t know what Bautista can do because they haven’t watched the Jays play. Massive blanket statement.

I should have said non-jays/baseball fans instead of americans.

On a more human note, Daniel Norris revealed today that he's going to undergo surgery to treat thyroid cancer. As I understand it he found out about it 3 months ago but doctors told him that he could wait until after the season to get it removed. All the best to this tough cookie and I have no doubt that he'll come back stronger than ever.

I've been debating for months as to how or even if I should share this with people. - I'm a firm believer in the power of prayer. So now, I'm asking for prayers. - A few months ago, after I was optioned to AAA, I found out I had a growth on my thyroid. Flying back & forth from Toronto to Buffalo after pitching to have more and more tests done it was finally concluded that the growth is considered malignant.. Meaning it contained the C word.. cancer. Hearing this was alarming, yea. Weird, yea, that too. I was given the option to shut my year down & get it removed immediately. However, seeing another doctor that determined I could wait until the end of the season reassured my gut feeling. Just Keep Playing. Baseball kept me sane. Regardless of results on the field, I forgot about it when I was between the lines. Afterall, I was just trying to get the heck out of AAA. & I did. I was revived with an opportunity, a blessing from God, with the Tigers back in the Big Leagues. So yea, the power of prayer.. It got me through this season. Now that it's over it's time to get this thing out, so please keep me in your thoughts & prayers as I undergo surgery & come out 100% cancer free! As always,,, #justkeeplivin

I don’t get what the big deal stealing signs are. Just takes a smart team to do it, and it could bite them in the butt if the pitcher if they flash to the batter it’s a breaking ball when in fact that sign now means fastball.

It seemed like his long pause pitches back fired on him today. His best stuff was when he quick pitched.

    I didn’t know this about Osuna…
“Osuna pitched despite reports of a broken nail embedded in the middle finger of his pitching hand that was restricting use of his slider.”
Never good when you have to remove a pitch from your arsenal.

This must be why he kept looking at his finger during the fifth game. The announcers thought he was getting a blister on his pitching hand.

I will say this about this series. If the Jays have any hope of winning, first and foremost, their pitching has to be better, and.... they need to keep putting up big runs all game long. Damn those Royals hitters are good and persistent. The last thing the Jays need is to be down at the mid point in any game and have to face that obstinate bullpen.

Must be. It was really purple/dark when they showed his hand during that game, but I was hoping it was just a shadow.

Up by 7, Sanchez gets removed after that 2/3rds inning. Up by 2, Sanchez comes out for the 8th to get a couple of outs before Osuna comes in. I’m not 100% worried about the BP, but the once deep BP is now just Sanchez and Osuna again. Do the Jays ever need Cecil. He would have gone in instead of Lowe/Hendricks to get 3outs.

The SP’s are almost forced to get to the 7th at a minimum now, then Sanchez/Osuna get 4outs each. Need a blowout in today/tmo to save the 2 young guys, especially Osuna to help heal that finger. Remember when we had 2 setup/closer duos? Hawkins+Lowe has evaporated.

Are we going to see fireworks in the game this afternoon if one team gets up by a handful of runs?
