An attempt to get momentum going? Something that spikes the team to get playing better?

If it doesn't work it doesn't work and you release him.

Have him on the bench and come out and catch the ceremonial first pitch? Get the fans going early.

I thought Jays fans loved Donaldson?

    Bo on IL.

Donaldson at 3B might be better than Espinal at 3B while Chapman is hurt. But it's pretty close.

Loved, as in past tense, sure, but the Bringer of Rain is just the Bringer of Pain at the plate now. That .142 batting average this year is just more of what they don't need.

    Donaldson's OPS+ is 75, Espinal is 61, Luplow was 64, Lukes was 73, Varsho is 82.

    Donaldson's (33gp) oWAR is -0.1, dWAR is 0.0, Espinal (72gp) oWAR is 0.1, dWAR is 0.0

Just as a gauge as to Donaldson's production this yr. He's not doing much at the plate, and he's average defensively, but on a team like the Yankees, he wasn't getting much help elsewhere.

    - Decision to let Kirk run was so dumb, the decision not to pinch run him was EVEN DUMBER
    - Vlad up with a chance to win it and he gets a ground ball
    - Their best hitter is D.Schneider, and he has spent the least amount of time with the hitting coaches.

We're coming into an era where guys can't be out of shape, or slow. It costs games now. I don't care if Manoah has been vocal about reporters fat-shaming him and Kirk, but you need to fix their stuff I think. Enough is enough with guys coming into the season being the shape of Kirk and Manoah. Vlad isn't chiseled but we know he at least tries to cut weight for the season, but you'd want him to take his off-season more seriously where he doesn't need to cut the amount he does.

The Angels dropping a bunch of people was so bad. The Jays are also paying Grichuk $4.33m still....

I want Renfroe and Matt Moore.
    Matt Moore has a 2.30ERA, 9.84K/9, 20h+svs and 3wins over 43ip
    Hunter Renfroe has 108hits, 237avg, 722ops, 54r, 18HR, 52RBI (93OPS+)

Harrison Bader also was put on waivers:
    83gp, 68hits, 239avg, 640ops, 40r, 7HR, 37RBI, 74OPS+

    100% all of this.
I have no idea how you do not pinch run for Kirk when he's on 2nd, and then 3rd! Anyone else on your bench scores on that sac fly easily.
Kirk was DH so no defensive worries, and yes you are then down to your 3rd catcher if Jansen gets hurt but who cares it's the 8th inning.

I told a buddy the 8th and 9 innings summed up the Jays season, look good, get close but do not make the right management decisions and do not execute the little things to succeed.
With Schneider and Vladdy due up with no one out you do not even need a base hit to tie the game! sac fly, sac fly and you push 2 runs across...

Hard to blame Schneider because he has been awesome for everything else but that AB hurt.
3.5 back is going to take a minor miracle to get into the playoffs, with 29 games to play the Jays need to go something like 20-9 and hope a team in front falters.
the ONLY good news is that they are chasing 3 teams and only need 1 to falter.

The bad news is the only team they are chasing that they play is Texas for 3 games and they have plenty of Yankees and Rays to finish the season.

    Wild weekend!
Good start Saturday, then a choke
Solid effort Sunday for a convincing won
concerning game Monday (it should not take extras to beat the As) but a win is a win.... I have a running joke with buddies "Romano is always an adventure" (he is 32/35 in saves, yesterday was technically a W)

Regardless of injuries the Jays have to sweep the As, who are terrible.
Houston v. Texas this week means a sweep guarantees Jays pick up 2 games vs. a combo of Texas Houston.

sweep the As, beat the Royals, get healthy and ready for a massive 4 game series vs. the Rangers which will likely determine the Jays season.

Im already under the assumption they arent going to the playoffs and if by some sheer fluke, they get in, I will be happily surprised.

After having a bad start to AA season, Orelvis Martinez since being promoted AAA has gone 0.271/0.344/0.887, 8HR, 33RBIs, 38H in 38 games. He could be the teams 3B next yr (maybe even the opening night 3B, but that I doubt).

THen you have the flip side...Manoah. What a weird situation that is.

Technically in a playoff spot now.

It's also a bit of who they are playing but since August 2nd the Jays lead baseball with a 0.337avg with RISP. They also lead baseball with 0.349avg when hitting with RISP and 2 outs since August 2nd.
