Default Internet Explorer vulnerabilities have increased 100 percent...

Broxium labs has analyzed public vulnerabilities and exploits from the first half of 2014, and the research determined that IE vulnerabilities have increased over 100 percent since 2013. My first thought was that since they are the biggest, they are probably a bigger target, and the higher you are, the further you have to fall, right? Then I realized that IE is not even close to the biggest web browser anymore. Does anybody use IE anymore?

I think a great many seniors still use it - My parents definitely do.

Which is actually worse as they're the most vulnerable group to online scams/fraud as well.

Id say around 20% of users use it.

Apple and Chrome make up for half of the users.

Many clients that I work for, on a business level, still only use IE exclusively. WHen it comes preinstalled, it's easiest just to use it if you don't know any better.

I use IE strictly for nrop (backwards) usage. I dont trust the CTRL SHFT N enough on Chrome to not remember typed-in browser addresses.

Call me paranoid, sure. Better safe than sorry and having to explain yourself to your wife.

They then open a google browser and it says "install chrome for free" or something.

Old people are just lazy and resistant to change.

Given how terrible the security of IE is, would you rather explain why you were looking at it when she finds the history, or explain why you're buying a new computer because viruses killed the old one?

Best option. Get an iPad and use that haha.

I'm not disagreeing with this, but rather just explaining why IE usage is so high still.

Until Google develops it's own OS (for PC's), I doubt any change in behaviour will occur. By default, people will limited knowledge associate Windows with Internet Explorer, as it is automatically installed.
