The league categories are a little unique in the way that they count all categories mostly but the more common ones are worth more (ie:goals, assists and GAA).

Granted, Barkov, Teravainen and Galchenyuk could definitely become very high scoring players but at this stage you just can't. You have a very decent young team and I understand your reasoning but no. If you are thinking of shipping him then ask around. You can get a lot more.

I cannot disagree with the other posters, but somebody has to light a match for the roasting to begin. Several potentials does not equal one elite superstar. You better hope that the recipient of Malkin in this deal has a terrible year and you have a shot at the first or second overall pick next season.

Not cool. If Malkin is getting moved, I don't see how a top 5 talent, no worse than top ten PLUS doesn't come back. None of this stacking crap with guys who aren't even in the top 50. I'm being generous with 50, by the way. pass, dude.

Where are my marshmallows, it seems like someone is getting roasted? I like the return...if it is 2020. Clearly you are considering the potential here, but Malkin puts up points now and is easily one of the best in the league. I agree withe the other guys that you need at least one guy in the top twenty already in the league to make this worth your while.

I agree with you with you, Axe, that people who tank in 'real life' should be embarrassed.. Like losing on purpose so two other teams have to playoff before they meet you in the finals.. Or a team that loses on purpoee to get a better draft pick..

But tanking in fantasy?? I see tanking in fantasy as somewhat of a strategy.. Your paying just as much money as the guy/girl who wins the league, yet you aren't winning any money, they are.. Your basically throwing money away in the end, or are you?? Maybe you are just making a longterm investment, which might not be too bad of an idea??

Only 3 people in your leagues are going to be really happy at the end of this coming season..

1) the GM who finishes 1st in your leagues ($$$)
2) the GM who finishes last in your leagues (McDavid)
3) the GM who finidhes 2nd last in your leagues (Eichel)

It's a good thing I wasn't trying to tank, I know it looks bad on the surface, real bad..... But what my thinking was is if at least 2 of the players hit 70+ points in the next year or so then it would make it worth it? I may have looked at this trade the wrong way and I may have been able to get a better return but I do think I got some all-star talent.

This could really bite me in in the ass or I could look like a genius down the road. In my defence I did try to get sequin first haha

Thus league is a keep all and is a pride league

But his sig doesn't state that it's a money league. From what I can see, its a free league. If it's a money league, and you want to throw your money away then that's your choice. I still don't agree with tanking, even in fantasy hockey, but to each their own.

To me theres a fine line between "playing" fantasy hockey and "winning" fantasy hockey. The guys that are always chasing the next McDavid never win fantasy hockey. They are always obsessed with getting that next young player.

If you want to win fantasy hockey, you go out and acquire the good players, no matter how old they are instead of trading away quality assets for the next great thing.
