If you can get him cheap he's a fantastic #2 or short-term #1 goalie for your team.
His age and the injury would have me looking elsewhere for a long-term solution in net.
I'm not excited abut his future. Bottom line is his team will not be good enough and he will not make enough starts to get back to the glory days. I think he has a few seasons in the No. 15-25 range ahead of him. Dobber's rank of 23 feels pretty good to me. So depending on the price you pay, he is either valuable or not. I would not give up much. If you could land him for Scrivens and a throw-in I would not have a problem with that.

I have faith that he is healthy and ready to play. My concern stems from a new coach and system. Too many questions to be top five, but definately the talent to be 5-15. Nashville is going to be interesting to watch this year.

I think he returns to a top fantasy asset. His D hasnt changed (probably as good as it gets in the NHL, they are loaded with D riches) and his new coaching system should finally offer some offense, which can only help in the win column.
If he plays anywhere as good for Nashville this year like he did in the World Championships, he will be fine.

I think he just had some bad luck with the medical issues he ran into. His injuries weren't the typical groin pull or back issues that you often see in goalies, I think it was just a combination of bad luck and bad timing.
There's no reason to expect that he won't return to form, I would just keep a careful eye on him
Until proven otherwise he is the ultimate buy low candidate

Colour me sceptical, but, I don't see him staying healthy or competitive enough for a top 5 goalie spot come seasons end.
I feel he's started the downhill slide of his career, yeah he'll still put up good #2 goalies stats for your fantasy team though, simply because Nashville has nice D.
Not THAT hairy, honest!
Weber, Josi, Volchenkov, Jones, Ellis, Del Zotto, and Ekholm? His D are ridiculous in front of him. They do have Neal and I think Forsberg will take a step forward this yr. I think Nashville will be a 9-11th place team next yr. If Rinne is healthy he’ll start 85% of the games (which is 69games). As a No2 goalie on a fantasy team, I’d expect him to be a solid goalie.
From 2010-2013 he had played 180 games (85% of them), 91 wins, 5,159saves (28.66 saves a game), a save% of 0.928, a GAA of 2.3 and 16 shutouts. If your league counts saves, and has no limit on goalie starts Rinne is dominate. His career save percentage is low because he had 0.9teens at the beginning of his career and they were heavy in shots, so it kinda skews his career numbers, as well as last yrs 0.902,

At 24, 25, 26 years old I wouldn’t expect a .920+ save %. I’m just thinking he was on the rise for the 2 seasons, lost Suter so the D were in a transition on the .910 season, then the injury.
In April last yr he had a 0.920s%, and a 2.26GAA. Against ducks, hawks, mtrl, kings, minny, and CBJ he was insane (like 0.950). But against Col, Blues, Pitts he sucked at like 0.860. If you looked up when they played those big guys when he sucked, I’m sure you would find a trend, either early in his return, or back to backs.
I’m just saying I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people with his numbers. I don’t think he will get 40 wins, but he will start enough to get 30, and have a really good sv% and half decent GAA.

i agree that he is going to surprise a lot of people with his numbers but not the way you think he will
he had one elite season and another very good season, but this myth that he was an elite goalie for several years in this league is just that a myth
i am not convinced at this point that he is going to be getting the number of starts he has in the past so i worry about his wins and saves as a result
as for the expectations of a 24, 25, 26 year old goalie, Bobrovsky had a .932 at 24 and a .923 at 25 and i would be willing to be he nails a .920 again next season
to me Rinne is another one of these guys living off of glory days which were actually much shorter than people remember, saves and wins were his thing because he started 70+ games most seasons, i think that there will be less of those going forward
Rinne is a guy I'd have an awfully hard time betting against, particularly with the D-core in front of him.
35 Wins, 2.40 GAA, .918 Sv%, 5 SHO.

I like Rinne probably in the 7th-12th range of goalies for one-year leagues.
It's too bad he's on a poor Nashville club... because he still has top five goalie talent.
