I hope this isn't like the Erik Johnson leg injury from a few years back.

According to a Caps spokesperson, Washington right wing Tom Wilson suffered an ankle injury in Ontario during a fall. Doctors in Toronto are currently evaluating him. The Capitals’ medical staff has been in touch with Wilson and the doctors. The team will know more about the extent of his injury in the next couple of days.
The 20-year-old Wilson just finished his rookie NHL season with Washington in 2013-14, totaling three goals and 10 points while playing in all 82 games and racking up 151 penalty minutes.
Should Wilson not be ready for the start of training camp or the regular season, it would obviously put a crimp in plans to slide him up the depth chart. Because of the team’s depth on the right side, Wilson spent his entire season on the team’s fourth line and averaged just 7:56 in ice-time per night as a teenager in the NHL.
Washington believes Wilson has greater upside, and the Caps have greater needs at other positions such as center and possibly at left wing as well. If the Capitals were to thin the herd on the right side with a deal to address shortcomings at other positions, it would also alleviate a logjam at the position and enable Wilson to move higher on the depth chart and in the lineup.
Until more is known about Wilson’s condition and long-term availability, any such plans could be put on hold. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about Wilson’s condition and his recovery.
I hope this isn't like the Erik Johnson leg injury from a few years back.
Guys on NHL radio were mentioning that it was related to waterskiing or something? I was just getting out of the truck so missed the end of it.
Was Erik Johnson the one who did it while golfing?

Knees and Hips can be replaced but shoulders and ankles are mighty complex mechanisms. If he damaged his ankle that could be a problem, especially for a hockey player.
The peroneal tendons stabilize and protect the ankle. They are often torn from sudden trauma or force. Tendons can also rupture.
The high ankle sprain is also the bane of skaters which is really a ligament issue.
He could also have broken it.
Wilson is still young and hopefully can heal from his injury.
Considering what the caps have invested in the young man he should be getting proper medical treatment including sleeping with his foot raised about the level of his heart, acupuncture and massage.

Eric Johnson hurt his knee when he jumped from a moving golf cart (I believe) My father hurt himself the same way when jumping in the opposite direction of travel off a SF Trolley.
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
An update on Wilson's status today. Apperently he has a fractured fibula
http://www.csnwashington.com/hockey-...actured-fibula
Capitals right wing Tom Wilson suffered a fractured fibula in a fall last week and is recovering from surgery, his agent, Mark Guy said on Wednesday.
Wilson, 20, is expected to be cleared to participate “at some point” during the Capitals’ training camp in September, a team spokesperson said.
"Tom is resting and recovering nicely," Guy said. "He should be ready at some point during camp."
Capitals coach Barry Trotz was vague when addressing Wilson’s injury on Monday, saying the 20-year-old winger would be ready to play at the start of training camp, which begins on Sept. 18. Trotz is expected to address the subject again today.
Wilson’s agent said Wilson “rolled his ankle” but did not elaborate on how the injury occurred.
Wilson played in all 82 games for the Capitals last season, recording three goals, seven assists and 151 penalty minutes, ranking seventh in the NHL in penalty minutes.
Wilson was not scheduled to participate in the Caps’ development camp, which began on Monday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex and will run through Saturday.
