Default Jiri Sekac signs with Mtl

"Last year for HC Lev Praha Sekac put up 28 points in 47 games which is nothing to scoff at in one of the best leagues in the world. According to TSN's Bob McKenzie his performance attracted the attention of at least a dozen NHL teams with the Habs being the clear winners here."

The 22 year-old 6' 2" 190 lbs forward from the Czech Republic is making the jump to North American professional hockey.

Any thoughts on whether he makes the lineup and what his upside is?

    He's a RW.

Heard on TSN it was 2 year entry level contract with the max term allowable.

Not sure what that is though.

    Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Nothing official yet but I believe MTL a likely winner in Jiri Sekac UFA sweepstakes. Much sought after 22-year-old winger in KHL last year.

A pretty good article about Sekac here:

    http://www.lighthousehockey.com/2014...-is-jiri-sekac

Bill Meltzer of Hockey Buzz said:

"One of main knocks on Sekac is that he is an unorthodox-looking skater. Although he is not a physical player and could stand to be a little harder on the puck, he has shown a greatly improved "compete level" from the time when he a bust in Peterborough. Sekac is a stronger and more confident player than he was then. He has also developed his two-way game."

I have no reason to feel this way but something tells me that Sekac and Scherbak are going to turn out to be just like Andrei Kostitsyn.

    Cautiously optimistic.

You mean that for any given game only one of them seems to be trying, they both eventually get traded and finally end up signing in Europe?
    On a fantasy hockey break.

He has a one way contract and not sure where he will fit in the line up if no more changes...

    Pacioretty-Desharnais-Gallagher
    Bourque-Plekanec-Parenteau
    Galchenuyk-Eller-Prust
    Moen-Malhotra-Weise

maybe on the 3rd line instead of Prust and Prust on the 4th while moen healhty scrathes for few games.... Prust should also miss some games du to injury...

Two-way deal since it's an entry-level contract based on his signing age. Not eligible for one-way deal.

I could see him play RW on the 3rd line for the Habs. Don't know much about him thought. We'll have to wait and see how it goes at camp I guess.

Good for cap leagues since his AAV is 1.35 million instead of the rumors of a max deal floating around on TSN.
