Benefit is worth the risk. Matt Read may end up on #1 line in Philly + PP time - good uposide.
L/E will be better +/- points similar at least - better upside for Read in Philly vs Eriksson in Bos.

Tough call.

I think Eriksson is the better point producer. He had 3 less points and played in 10 less games, and most consider last year a disappointment for Loui.

Read MAY see an increase in his offense this year but thats an assumption. The fact he saves you cap space is a nice bonus though and certainly makes Read attractive.

If you need the cap space then take a chance on Read. If you can afford Loui, I am keeping him as I think he will still be a better point producer.

Idk, I think I would keep Loui Eriksson here. Like Axeman said, he's a better points producer and they were very close in basically the worst possible year for Eriksson. Plus, when you consider the fact that Eriksson's cap-hit is totally reasonable at $4.5m, you should look for savings elsewhere. Sure, there's some upside with Matt Read in PHI, but you're basically banking on that upside in order to get good value here. I'd just stand pat with the usually reliable option.

It depends on read playing top line or not. As a checker he won't compete with Eriksson for points. But on top line with Giroux and Voracek, completely different.

It's safer to keep Eriksson.

I'd keep Eriksson and just worry he doesn't get injured thats about it.
Production wise even if read is on top line I doubt he'll stay there for the whole season.
