He should have been inducted while alive, particularly since everyone knew he would be anyways. But the Hall of Fame is largely irrelevant except as a way for NHL Radio to fill some airtime. It's been a joke for a long long time.
Am I the only one who is pissed that Pat Burns wasn't inducted in his first year of eligibility, before he died? Hasek, Forsberg, Modano and Blake also join him.

All good selections this year, tough to argue against any of them.
As for Burns, his family must be celebrating, congrats to them.
Hmmmmmmm, Rob Blake before Lindros?? Lindros didn't play as many games or win a cup.. But he was a dominating player, he definitely changed the game, and at one point was a top 3 player in the league..
I am soooooooo happy for the Burns family!! Pat was a great coach and a great man..
Zorro says "vote for Dobber"
Angus is my best friend at dobberhockey..
Recchi got hosed
Burns should have got in while he was still alive, no doubt. I say the same thing about Don Cherry. He should be in there now before he's gone.

Bob McKenzie remembering Pat Burns in an article a few years ago. One of the most touching things I have ever read about the man. Great read, if you haven't read it yet.

Modano was a star. Recchi was a nice complimentary player who could play on a team's top line, but his greatest feat was longevity. That counts for something, but not when compared against the real stars of the game. Lots of guys not in the Hall more deserving than Recchi.
Honestly....Hasek, Forsberg, and Burns should have been the class this year. Blake and Modano were good players, but HoF? No.
One thing I don't get....if Forsberg gets in on his first try, why has Lindros been passed over a couple times now? Pretty similar careers....short, but completely dominant for a good chunk of it.
