Any news about contract length and salary? What should we expect? 8-9M per year or an hometown discount in order to save space for other players and stay competitive for few more years?

I would expect a cap hit of 7.5 at the very minimum. More likely would be 8+ on 8 year contracts for both.

As far as news, nothing concrete. Bowman has said they're working on extensions and expects them done this summer, but no terms mentioned yet.

I see an almost identical contact to Kessel for both 8 for 8. Isn't crippling to the team by any means and locks up two of the greatest players on the game.

You guys are really underestimating the value of their new contract. Zero chance the cap hit is anything below 8, zero. They will get at minimum the Corey Perry deal, could go over $10 million per year as well. They will get big contracts.

That's gross for salary cap leagues. Especially for extended cat leagues with Kane.

I think these guys are going to get paid. It would not surprise me if they look for double what they're getting right now. That's up maybe in the $11 million-$12 million range.

... and you know what? Chi would be crazy not to pay them. They won't get anyone better for much less than that cost. If they let Toews/Kane walk, they take the chance on not getting anyone back.

Yeah they have to pay those guys. They can't afford to lose especially Toews.

If paying them means having to cut guys like Bickell, Oduya, Versteeg on the payroll and replace them with cheaper guys, you absolutely do it. They have the prospect depth to survive it as well.

Since the end of last years playoffs I've felt like 8 years each and a cap hit of 9 million is what they'd get. To some people that's an over payment while others would say that they took a discount. Its crazy talk to expect them to take less than 8 million per year.

Ya, anything with a 7 in it is a complete joke. Guys, the salary cap has gone up and will continue to go up. Toews and Kane are two of the best young players in the game. They're getting huge money. Get used to bigger numbers.
