Help!!! A conundrum!!

I have the 2nd overall pick in next years draft. I need a goalie, as you can see in my sig but my question is... Should I wait until the 7th overall pick to get my G.

Available goalies are, in order of quality. IMO.

Bishop
Bobrovsky
Mason
Bernier
Hiller?
Miller?

I'm sure that at least 2, maybe 3 goalies will be gone by the time I pick 7th.
Is it worth the risk/drop off in talent, to wait and take one of the available forwards or Dmen instead

I would take Bobrovsky 2nd and Bishop 7th. Then I would target Trouba and hope he's still there next round

I think Dobber is mostly right here. In points-only, I don't think any of those guys warrant a selection ahead of elite goaltenders like Bishop/Bobrovsky who are well within the top-tier / second-tier of starting NHL goaltenders.

I like the idea of taking goalies early. My plan was to take Bishop 2nd overall and a F/D at 7th. I don't have another pick until sixth round. So there will be slim pickings by then. My first 2 picks are really the only ones that will get any valuable players.

So Dobber, In your opinion is Bobrovsky that much better than Bishop? would you take Bishop/Bob with my first pick and maybe Trouba with the later one? I remember you saying that you think Holtby will be better this year, do you still think that??

Would Holtby and Bishop/Bob be a good enough tandem? I know only 5 goalies will be drafted total. So I'll be able to get a miller/Lehtonen/Khudobin in later rounds.

In looking at the team I'd actually target trouba first, and then the goalies. With basically just wins and shutouts goalies to me sure seem to bunch together a whole lot more.

Worry about D after that.

Yes, don't lean towards a defenceman with your first pick. Grab a goalie. Take one of Bishop or Bob and don't look back. I think Bishop is the real deal Holyfield.

Personally I think Holtby will be good this year but his future is anything but set in stone. If you can get Bob, Bishop or Bernier (in that order) then I'd do that for 2 & 7.

I like petegreg21's suggestion of taking two of the three goaltending B's (Bob, Bish or Bern). Holtby may bounce back, and he may not. The Capitals won't wait long to secure another goalie if he falters. Bob & Bishop each had minor injuries last season, but expect them both to pick up where they left off.
