Yes he can. I don't know if I would veto Dallas if it was me. I kinda like a lot of parts of that team, but I could see Spezza applying his veto to that team. Not convinced there's a fit there. Ruff is awful tough on slackers and while I think Spezza plays harder than Vanek, he ain't exactly Ruff's model player..
Blades of Steel
9 Team Full Keeper - Pts Only (G,A,W,SO)
Crosby, Wheeler, Bergeron, Forsberg, Connor, Kopitar, E.Lindholm, Pastrnak, DeBrincat, Fiala
Jones, Klingberg, Hamilton, Theodore, Letang
Saros, Shesterkin
Garland, Vrana, Bjorkstrand, Verhaege, Backstrom, Karlsson, Perunovich, Spurgeon, Pulock, Hellebuyck
The Stars are not a good fit IMO. Kesler to Dallas makes way more sense if he's willing to go there.
I think the Blues and Ducks are the best fit for Spezza. And both teams can offer a nice return to Ottawa.
Berglund / Jaskin+
or
Etem / Perreault / Bonino / Palmieri++
are good foundations for a trade.
But I'm firm in my belief that the team who trades for Spezza will regret it.

The Blues makes tonnes of sense. If their cap situation is good, I could see this. Anaheim is a team I thought of as well, but I think with the recent Ryan deal, I bet that partner is a bit saturated.. I would go to STL if I was Spezza. I actually think the Sens will miss Spezza more than the team who gets him will regret the deal, but that's just me.

Thornton and Kesler would both be preferable options, but Spezza would be the cheapest to acquire.

Just my guess but I'd anticipate this speculative deal between Ottawa and Dallas being something closer to Chiasson, Faksa and 2014 1st. I doubt Dallas parts with either Daley or Dillon, they're both key cogs for them. Gonchar, on the other hand...lol
I am afraid I don't see a team offering up the kind of value Ottawa wants for a 1 year contract. If there is a sign and trade or trade and sign then there should be a better return
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
As an Eakin owner I hope they don't acquire any centers that will usurp him from the #2 role.

Substituting or with and makes a big difference. The OP listed Chaisson, Daley, and/or Dillon and a 1st. One of the three plus a first and a guy like Faksa I could see and seems more reasonable. Personally, for Dallas, I think Spezza fits better than Kesler or Thornton.
As for Anaheim, I bet Bonino is a non-starter. The other three are likely available, but Bonino proved himself too valuable this year.
