That wouldn't surprise me, they already have many good young pieces. Getting the veteran they need may be worthwhile

The guy reported both the Boyle and the Halak stories first. So pretty strong rumor IMO.
Commish of UNFFHL, dangered species being the sole Panthers fan on Dobber.

Hmm interesting, wonder who they'd be looking at. Spezza maybe? Not sure they necessarily need him but he's the biggest name out there besides Thornton who I can't imagine would accept a trade to the Isles.

could be a juke
they could be trading the 5th in a package for the 1st
they already have one Reinhart don't they
Starting to get interested in the 2014-2015 isles. Primarily because of my J.T. But always interesting when a perennial bottom feeder takes a turn for the better (enter Columbus).
they have said they want a young player, a little further along in development.
snow has to do everything he can to make sure next year's draft pick isn't a high one.

A quick thought that Dion Phaneuf would probably fit what ails the Islanders very well. Then again its tough to know what Toronto is doing from this outsiders perspective. But on the surface trading DP would certainly help the cap situation for the Leafs and help the woefully understaffed Islander blueline. Granted the Dan Boyle deal helps matter but bringing in a top all around athlete in Phaneuf would certainly put the Islanders in a very nice situation going into Brooklyn.
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

I took over a team this year in a H2H dynasty where the two previous GMs were Isles fans. The team had 10 NYI players on it but I've cut it down to 7 with some decent moves. Talk about overdoing it haha.
Isles I own now are the pretty decent ones: Tavares, Strome, Okposo, Nielsen, de Haan, Donovan, and Nabokov(eh).
Still looking to ship either of de Haan/Donovan in package for a goalie lol

I could see the Isles trying to get the #1 pick this year tho in a trade for 5th+...

I can't see them trading for either player unless they would move the wing. Tavares is the #1 center and Spezza and Thornton don't seem like a good fit for 2nd line centers to me. They need help on the wing and a backup goalie. And it's looking more and more like Boyle doesn't want to sign so they may still need that d-man help as well.
I think if they trade the pick, it's for someone that will help next season.

Like someone mentioned somewhere on these boards.....news comes out the Isles are trading their #5, and a day or two later the Panthers have received a "fair offer" for the #1. Hmmm....we know the Isles are willing to make a move for a top defender, and after missing on Ryan Murray maybe they're setting their sights on Ekblad.

aside from 2009 (tavares)snow has always put the recent high picks on the table while mentioning the expected return.
he wants your young established talent 24-28 , preferably under contract or still controlable (RFA)
who's dangling some of that ?
