As I mentioned in the Rutherford hiring thread, I didn't expect them to keep Bylsma but I didn't quite think they were going to fire him before officially introducing Rutherford to the media/fans.

I'm wondering this too. What is their plan otherwise? Wait until all coaches with NHL experience are off the table then promote someone from juniors? Figuring Bylsma would have to be at the top of their list...
As for Kesler, who knows. I imagine Benning will be shopping him, as I think he should. But yeah, Kesler may want to stay if Bylsma is in town - I just hope he doesn't.

Wow, the axe sure came down quickly there.
The JR signing doesn't make much sense to me so maybe they'll hire Torts and really set the franchise back for a good long time.

Finally! Good riddance. Happened one year too late, unfortunately. Better late than never, I guess. He's still a good coach IMO, but just wasn't the right coach for this team anymore in a long time.
As for this not happening while firing Shero and looking bad for Pens now? Probably. Atleast to some degree. But it's business and Bylsma has been dicking around with Despres for years so I don't feel bad for him.
Too bad Shero had to go and tie his faith in Bylsma last summer. He paid the price for it by losing his job (and it was awful summer all-around for Shero; re-signed Bylsma, re-signed, Adams, re-signed, Dupuis, brought back Scuderi, tied his hand cap wise with those moves and only Vokoun's illness saved Niskanen from being cap casualty - all failures). Sticking with Bylsma was Shero's biggest mistake.
