We really gotta find a way to shorten the year. The interest is just not there for a lot of people.

Agreed, always wondered why the NHL didn't go to a 72 game season.

The NHL would go to a 92 games schedule before they would go to a 72 game one...

No question about that - but when even the most die hard fans start to tune out in June, you have to wonder. Besides, less games would mean reducing player salaries to even things out and the NHLPA would never go for that either. Anyways, we're kind of off topic.............ummmmmm, Go Rags!

Someone made a comment earlier in this thread about "long season" - to me it sounded like that's what they meant. To be transparent, I find myself typically tuning out each season once the first round ends.

I have not watched a second of the Final round. Maybe it would be different if there were teams in there I actually gave a crap about of course, but honestly, it's way too nice outside, and this time of year is too busy, to want to stick around inside to watch the Kings win another Cup.

Exactly, depending where you live in Canada, you may get 2-4 months of nice weather. The SC playoffs gradually fade into the background for many casual fans.

To be fair, out of 30 teams what are the odds that the 2 in the final are going to end up being teams you happen to care about.

I happen to like LA a lot so I am tuning in, but it makes sense that once people's teams are eliminated they wouldn't have much interest left in the playoffs.

Yeah, that's a fair point. if Montreal or Chicago would have made it I would have been more interested, but hard to say if it would have been enough to tune in.

I find the La/NYR match up more intriguing than the NJ/LA match up from two seasons ago. Last year's CHI/BOS series was also pretty good.

I would think due to the large market bases in the final this year, ratings must be through the roof in the US........

We should star the season in September. No question.
