    Default Suter vs Jones

If you owned Seth Jones and someone offered you Ryan Suter straight up would you take the deal?

I am the Suter owner and really want to get my hands on Jones before his price skyrockets anymore than it already has.

Should I just be happy with what I have in Suter or make a serious push to get ahold of a mega stud prospect like Jones?

    Suter for me.

If Weber or Josi ever get moved then I MAY consider Jones but until that happens, Suter easily for me.

I agree with Axeman, Suter is better now, but then again you don't want to trade for Jones when he becomes something, you want to trade for him before he becomes something when his value is lower. You might be able to trade Suter for Jones and something now. In the future you'll probably trade Suter and something for Jones. See the difference
This shouldn't be a straight up deal especially since its not a cap league

It also depends if your team is competing to win now, if you are a couple years away then I would go after Jones now. Can also ask trading partner, what he would throw in with Jones for Suter to gauge interest.

Another vote for Suter from me unless you're planning a retool.

    Suter.
I'd say there's a 30%-50% chance that Seth Jones ends up being a better NHL player than Suter.
So... why even make that trade just to wait 4 years to find out IF you got it right???

I know everyone likes Jones potential but there are so many variables when it comes to dmen fantasy -wise. I'd take Suter now without thinking twice.

Suter is a pretty easy choice for me. Jones hasn't proven he'll be a good defenseman, let alone a Suter type defenseman. Don't get me wrong, Jones will likely be solid, but when the known commodity is on the Suter level, take that and eliminate the risk.

Only keep Suter if you're competing now, if not, trade for Jones and add a bit more

Suter is only 29 years old. It's not like he is going to be fading into oblivion within 3 years. Jones will be lucky if he even reaches Suter's production level within the next 3 years. Unless you're getting more than just Jones, there is no scenario where I make this trade.

If you look at what Suter contributes now (40+ points last two full seasons + potential extra upside as young core matures) Jones would have to exceed that without too much time passing to justify any wait for him to develop.
