He cares in case he ever wants a trade, and I'm sure that he will eventually get bought out anyway. Being labelled as injury prone is never good for business. This will not be the last deal Letang will sign, not even close, and his agent is just trying to protect his rep.

Great point. I didn't really consider that, but it is a definite likelihood.

One broken foot or not, Letang is still a band-aid boy. Doesn't change anything. When do you believe every word the media says?

I have no idea what that punched a wall is supposed to mean.

Letang will play out his new contract and he will live up to the high salary. He will still play after this new deal expires. You can book this one.

I'd like to read more about how/when the breaks happen.

I've had hairline fractures in my wrist, ankle, toes before.
I think those could still be called a "break", I don't know.

I had to pick this out because I was having the same thought in regards to Stepans broken jaw. Yes, a fracture does count as a break. People go through incidents all the time where they get minor fractures and don't even notice, athletes included.

I'm not presuming that these reported breaks are minor, I'm just suggesting that a break might not even be noticeable since it doesn't have to be a separation of the bone. Letang may have mentioned to the trainer that his foot and hand feel odd. Trainer orders x-rays and might find a small, playable fracture so Letang keeps playing. It's possible.

Burst testicle. My last year of university hockey, and a rookie went down to block a shot. The shot caught the kid in the junk. He slowly made it back to the bench and missed one shift before soldiering on through the rest of the game. Afterwards in the locker room, he started to panic when getting undressed and his left nut was three times bigger than normal. A hospital trip was in order, and surgeons removed the ruptured testicle. He returned to the ice four weeks later, but didn't block anymore shots. In fact, I don't think any of us did for the rest of the season. Tough kid!

I don't blame him for stopping his shot blocking. With only one testicle i wouldn't be taking any chances either.
