"Cleavage is like the sun. You can look, but dont stare.. Unless you're wearing sunglasses."
This whole thing bothers me. If Pit was unsatisfied with their coach and GM over the course of the season, then fine, make a change, bring in people that fit your vision. IF, you are judging this based a few hockey games against Columbus, then there is an issue. Long term decisions, with massive consequences, can't be made based on tiny samples
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.

^The story somebody posted yesterday was that Bylsma had lost his lockerroom - i.e. players weren't motivated to play for him.
None of us are privy to lockerroom stuff, but motivation is critical in hockey.
If that information is truly correct - and the players weren't going full-bore for Bylsma, he had to go. (sim. Richards/Carter in PHI)
Everybody on a team has to be on the same page, motivated, focused, dedicated.
It apparently wasn't that way in PIT - per Bob McKenzie.
Not sure Shero was the problem but whatever, we'll see if this helps or hinders them when they get to the playoffs next season

I own MAF, as well as Bennett and Jokinen, so I will be very curious to see how this pans out.
Would love to see MAF in a Trottz system, if he is still in town, that is

I snipped to the two most important parts that I want to respond to. I think it all depends on what happens with a new coach. If Pittsburgh goes with a defensive-minded coach like Jacques Martin, then I'm not worried about Fleury at all, but very worried about the other guys.
If they bring in an offensive-minded coach, then I'm worried about Fleury, but not the other guys.

This is precisely why I shopped him so hard all year and eventually snagged Carey Price for him and a draft pick after Price had that terrible month and his numbers blew up. Glad I did. Would have been upset had the Pens won the cup and Fleury lit it up in playoffs, since I was banking on him being gone next year.
Wow Bylsma staying for now. It will all depend on the new GM. I still think he'll be gone. Kinda sucks for him hanging in limbo till then.

Are you sure Bylsma has been fired?
Shero has definitely been fired but I am reading that Bylsma hasnt been fired yet and will be re-evaluated by whoever takes over as the new GM.

"Cleavage is like the sun. You can look, but dont stare.. Unless you're wearing sunglasses."
Thread title fixed.
TSN (via Bob MacK) had posted on website that conference was (indeed!... at time posted!) to announce firing of both.
It will also come across a little better to fans.
If PIT doesn't have a replacement coach (which they wouldn't... or shouldn't), then you would alienate some fans who like Bylsma. (bound to be some, still).
Also, it would be seen as "Lemieux axes Bylsma".
Why not let the new GM do it?
Shield the owners from as much fan-response as possible (good or bad).
It's a GM's job... let the GM do it.
Actually - makes sense to me.
