Seems like many are quick to judge Bennett based on his production from his first 47 NHL-games (21 points in 47 games isn't even bad production for a young player). He's seen limited minutes and moved up and down on the lineup. Way too early to judge him from that small sample size. He's shown flashes of a legitimate top-6 forward even in that time. Very good skills. He just needs to stay healthy to be able to build up some confidence and chemistry with his linemates.

As for Bennett being handed "every opportunity for top-6 minutes".... out of 47 regular season games, in just 9 has he played over 15 minutes. I believe in all of those games either one or both of Crosby and Malkin have been out of the lineup. That's not being given every chance for top-6 minutes.

And he was very good in the AHL this past year. He's currently learning how to actually play defence so he can stick in the NHL haha, I'm surprised nobody is cutting him some slack. He'll get there. He's only 21 years old!Originally Posted by rataylor22
