Default 2nd Overall Pick worth it?

I have the 2nd overall pick in my league, the league consists of G,A,P,PIMS,Hits,Blocks,SOG
In my league rookies usually go first, MaKinnon, Jones, Drouin etc
Would it be more beneficial for me in a rebuild to trade it for multiple assets or keep it and draft a player #2 Overall

It all depends on your roster, and what you could actually get for the pick. Have you had any offers?

Without knowing the composition of your team, or size of your league, or what sort of offers you have for the pick, the question is impossible to answer.

I wouldn't do that deal, you could get more. Maybe you could post your roster so we could see where you are in your rebuild?

Agree that we need more information. Judging from the offer above you should be able to do a lot better. Picks that high can allow someone to add an elite veteran or one of the high value prospects. I'd be looking for an asset with a level of guaranteed value
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.

I'd be looking at trying to get someone like Trouba (you'd probably have to add something, maybe Ellis). What does the rest of your roster look like? We are asking because we need to know your entire team's strength/weaknesses.

Well I think I'd be more inclined to go after a solid F if you want to make a trade. But if the Wilson/Oleksiak offer is indicative of what you can get, I would just hold on to the pick.

In a 12 team league although your D and G are good your F are way below average and I imagine you can't be close to competing. So I would use the pick on the top available 2014 forward unless you can use it to acquire a proven productive young forward that would be a cornerstone for your team.

Became GM of this team at the beginning of the year after the draft, previous gm ran into salary issues which led to the dropping of practically everyone, i had to rebuild from ground up. I was hoping to use this draft to upgrade my FWDs as my D seem pretty strong

You're thinking the right way here - Reinhart or Bennett will be available for you. Unless you can get a serious calibre young F, rebuild through the draft. It requires lots of patience - I'd also be thinking about next year and a shot at McDavid.
