I haven't read this thread, but how 'bout Spezza to Detroit?
My in-between-degree-of-freedom to Spezza is in Windsor, where he has extended family.
His brother used to play hockey in Flint, Michigan.
Him & wife might be OK with that move.
Dats & Z are getting old... Weiss is a bum... and Detroit has a lot of assets in youth.
I'm not sure what would make sense, but Detroit could use another aging band-aid-boy.
They might be on their final leg of the Dats/Z era and might decide to go with one more aging shot at a Cup.
I'm thinking Spezza might not be allowed to wear #19 though! LOL.
Well I would imagine even if he wasn't happy to go to Detroit, it wouldn't be one of his 10 teams.
It does make sense as they love signing and trading for older players. A return could be something like Smith, pick, prospect, or some Swede.
Isn't it league policy that Philly or NYR have to trade for/sign every fancy named player that goes on the market!?

Well, they could trade the rights to Alfredsson...
so he picks the playoff team that pays him the best, so what? besides detroit has the swede connection, it was an easy decision. boston already had their eyes on iggy anyways, if memory serves me correct they both signed within 24 hours of each other. do you think alffy would sign with a team like edmonton if they paid him the most?
