Would you trade Getzlaf for Shattenkirk???

Need a little advice.

30 team dynasty, points only. I'm rebuilding and have been offered Shattenkirk for Getzlaf.

Agree with Lucifer, Getzlaf is a stud. If you are rebuilding get the word out Getzlaf is available.
In fact make him a counter offer ( check his roster for top top prospect) and say that you are going to put Getz on the open market in 2 days - giving them first chance at him (exclusive - lol). Lots of guys would want Getz on their roster.
Points only Getz is stud especially at this point in his career.

the toughest part about rebuilding in a league that size is getting real value for your top assets

generally the teams that would have the most interest in someone like Getzlaf are going to have the worst parts in terms of what a rebuilding team is looking for

Getzlaf is only 28 and likely for the next 5 years will be a top 10 forward in points leagues, that is very difficult to find proper value on

the top draft picks from the past couple of seasons are likely sitting on teams that have little more use for Getzlaf than you do

i understand going different position to make up for that but i think that Getz needs a Karlsson or Subban coming back if you are going straight up and even then some might debate of you need a kicker or not

I'd probably prefer Getzlaf.
But... roster allocation is key.

It depends how much better the player is compared to waiver wire player.

There is math to be done here.
30 teams x 9F (?) or 6F (?).
Then you should go on a stat site and check the points for that last player.

If it's say 6F, check the #180F in scoring this year. Say he was 40pts.
If you value Getzlaf as a 80pt player... that gives Getzlaf +40 value.

If it's say 4D, check the #120 D in scoring this year. Say he was 25pts.
If you value Shattenkirk as a 50pt player... that gives Shatty +25 value.

Just guessing at rosters & statistics and assuming that my very questionable assumptions are reasonable... than Getzlaf is the much better "differential value".

Agreed - Getzlaf for Shattdeuces and something else if you must do that deal. I like Shatts a lot and the key to winning pools for me is scoring defencemen, but Getzlaf is too high-end for a straight across swap.

Hahaha if I didn't know better I'd think you were in my league. You have read it perfectly. The top teams have traded away most of their valuable young assets and the bottom teams are tanking and don't want points producers. That leaves the middle 1/3 teams and that's where I'm focusing. It's hard to make a deal in this league at the best of times.

well i have been and am in large dynasty leagues and most of them with more than 15 teams are going to work this way

one thing to consider especially in a league this size is targeting goalie

if the Varlamov owner has another starter in addition to Varly i might give a long look at possibly trying to find a deal there

Are you sure you aren't in my league LOL The Shattenkirk owner is also the Varly owner.

So you are a big believer in Varly?
