Default Doughty vs Bogosian vs Pietrangelo

Now that it\'s official and Doughty is in LA, Bogosian in ATL and Pietrangelo in STL.
    1. Who will produce sooner?
    2. Who will fair better long term?
    3. Are there any fwds ( with the obvious exception of Stamkos and Filatov ) that should be taken ahead of these three considering the team they were drafted by?

One I\'m taking a long look at is Boedker in PHX considering it was stated numerous times Phx wanted players that would step in and play right away.

excellent questions. I am wondering the same thing.

I have the 3rd pick in our entry, and although I am trying to move up to get Filatov, not sure it will happen.

I personally am seriously considering taking Bogosian before Doughty, and also thinking it may be better to take Boedker ahead of them.

Well, Bogosian has the least competition ahead of him. In a few years, he\'ll be manning the points with Enstrom and/or Kovalchuk in Atlanta.

Doughty has an offensive dman logjam ahead of him. But man is LA\'s defense going to be insane.

Pietrangelo will probably quietly develop and slide into the lineup and steadily have his point totals rise ending up playing with EJ.

But I still have a really hard time ranking these three.

Me too. That\'s why I posted.
Bob Mckenzie was quoted as saying that Doughty will absolutely play in the NHL next year. Does this mean he has the skill to leap frog some of LA\'s talent on the back end and possibly quaterback the PP?

Well, there are rumors that LA wants to deal away Visnovsky, and if they do I could see Doughty taking over the PP QB role very soon (next year or the year after).

All three of these guys are very offensively talented, but I would say that Pietrangelo and Doughty have more offensive talent than Bogosian. But Bogosian does find himself in the best situation to get the most points ... its hard to rank them but you can\'t go wrong with any one of them.

That\'s possible about Doughty, but on the other hand you have to look at how the Kings have handled Jack Johnson so far. They haven\'t rushed him and I doubt they will rush Doughty.

I haven\'t watched Doughty enough to form my own opinion but is it possible that Doughty is one of those rare talents that can step right in and make an impact?

I really like Bogosian\'s position in Atlanta - very tempting also.

I believe you can rank Petro 3rd behind Bogosian and Doughty as he will play 2nd fiddle to EJ. Bogosian may produce sooner in the NHL compared to Doughty because of ATL\'s defense situation. But I agree that Doughty will be brought along slowly and eventually become the PP QB on a high octane LA offense easily leap frogging Hickey and JJ. Keep this in mind, Doughty was named the Best D at the WJHC (a rare feat for undrafted D) while Bogosian and Petro were home playing in the OHL.

With all due respect for Bobby Mac...he can say what he wants...I\'d go by what Lombardi states in the LA Times before Bob though:

Kings general manager Dean Lombardi does not expect the overall 2nd draft pick to play for the team this season.

Asked if Lombardi expected Doughty to be in the starting line-up, the GM offered \"Expect? No,\" Lombardi said. \"Does he have a chance? Yes.\" Doughty will most likely be with the Kings\' AHL affiliate.

Isn\'t he too young for that? I think North American players must be at least 20 years old to play in the AHL according to the CBA.

Not too sure about that...but I would assume Lombardi wouldn\'t say that unless he was mis-quoted today.

    I found this:

NCAA guys can play in the AHL anytime after being drafted.

CHL guys need to complete 4 years of Junior, or be 20.

Also CHL guys can report to AHL teams after their club team gets eliminated, signing amateur tryout contracts.

Europeans drafted from European clubs can play in the AHL whenever they want to, but mostly they play in the CHL first.

You\'re right...looking back...Lombardi didn\'t say that...the columnest filled out the end of the story.
