I have tired of his injuries and managed to win the Championship without him in the lineup, so I thought this might be a good time to unload him before his band-aid boy status becomes cemented in the public's consciousness. He was MVP a couple of years ago so its not a decision to be made lightly. This is a multi-cat points league, keep 18.
I was thinking of talking to the guy who has Johansen and Palat first. I like those two players, they are outstanding in our scoring system. Would taking them in exchange for Malkin be enough value in return?
Absolutely not.
Malkin is a beast and needs to be treated as such. Johansen and Palat are nice players but there is no history of long-term performance with them. They could regress. You have no idea what your truly getting from them, and to lose Malkin for them. No way.
Seek a stud-stud trade. Legit history.
I think you should be able to get 2 PPG forwards in return for him. See if you can start an open bidding war for him in the league.

i don't see them as enough value if i am being honest
someone like Jamie Benn would help your LW depth gets some hits a couple of blocks as well as the occasional faceoff
i would be looking to target someone like him + if you absolutely must move Malkin
OK, good this is the kind of feedback that makes this site great.
Johansen was a top 10 player this year in this scoring system. Palat was also incredible. The guy who owns those 2 also owns Stamkos.
I already own Jamie Benn or that would have been the #1 player on my list, Lucifer. Great minds think alike. I also own Crosby and OV so I have the best C, LW and RW available in that system.
Not close, and much as I agree with you on the injuries, I wouldn't trade him. He's injured two years, then wins a scoring title. Seems like a small price to pay to own a guy like that.
On a side note, I love how "shopping malkin" in the subject line gets 100s of immediate responses. Very polarizing figure!

update your sig please Doug so we know what we are working with
if it is your first team listed and your goalies are the same perhaps you might want to use him to upgrade your goaltending
This team is a beast and I have won 3 of the past 4 Championships. Here is my projected 18 keepers, including Malkin:
C: Crosby Malkin Kopitar Couture
LW: Benn B Schenn Kreider
RW: Ovechkin Wheeler Schiefele Toffoli
D: Doughty Franson Hedman Gudas
G: Rask Fred Andersen
Deciding on Fisher or J. Carlson for 18th keeper
Obviously #2 G could use an upgrade, though I am high on Andersen and as of now feel pretty good about him as my #2 G for next year. Can only keep 2 Gs so there are always some good options in the draft. Several starting goalies, including Bishop and Bernier were picked in the draft this year. Won the title this year with Rask and a succession of short-term fill-ins like Grubauer and Kuemper, then Bryzgalov and Gibson studded out in the playoffs and brought home the trophy for me.
and this is a points league right
so what were the total points of Malkin, Johansen, and Palat as well as the points per game for each player
Malkin 513.6 pts in 60 gms, 8.6 ppg
Johansen 659 pts in 82 gms, 8.0 ppg
Palat 499 pts in 81 gms, 6.2 ppg
and Malkin's best season what was his points per game during that season
what goalies does the guy with Johansen have
His goalies are shit. Pavelec is his best and I am not going there.
Malkin scored 11.2 ppg in his MVP season in 2012. I believe this type of production is only possible by Geno when Crosby is out of the lineup on a long-term basis. I traded for Geno prior to the 2012 season and was rewarded.
if you make this deal how many points per game is the guy you are dropping getting
Not sure who I would drop, but it would be an inconsequential non-keeper type. By the time 18 keepers are declared next fall I will have traded away everything of value but my top 18 in order to maximize my returning roster. Anyone who doesnt make my top 18 but would make someone else's will be dealt.
