As much as I like Karlsson, I just don't think you can give up on OV at this point. Defencemen totals can fluctuate depending on usage, and if Karlsson slips back to say 60 points this could be a massive loss IMO
Points only. I'm trying to get Karlsson from someone, but he wants Stamkos. Fair deal? Do I need to offer more? Does he?

I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.

The top 8F and 5D count in your league. Your forwards are amazing. Your defence is mediocre (you don't even have 5D).
I wouldn't trade Stamkos for Karlsson, but I consider moving Ovi for him.
You simply can't compete with the D you have.
That's a pretty steep price, and even though your D definitely needs improvement, I'm not sure I'd pull the trigger on an OV/Karlsson swap. I'd probably try to go after another high end blueliner that isn't Karlsson (Subban, Weber, Keith, OEL or Pietrangelo) and give up somebody not named Malkin/Stamkos/Ovechkin.
Keep Malkin, Ovi and Stamkos.
An idea, dangle Iginla around for D help.
Points only I would happily trade OV for Karlsson, likely not stamkos though.
I'd much prefer a 75 pt D-man than an 85-90 pt forward.
I would move Ovie in a heartbeat for Karlsson.
So would I. I'm really surprised more in here wouldn't. Ovi scores 50+ goals a year, but his assist totals are way down and he's only a 80-90 point player. In points only, Ovi's biggest strengths are negated (goals, sog, hits, ppp) and he is only a top 5-10 play (this year he would be #8). With Karlsson, you are getting a player that will put up 70-80+ points from the d slot. Having the dman that will score 15-20 points more than the next best dman is a FAR greater advantage than having another top 5-10 forward. You already have Stamkos as your elite F, I would make this move in an absolute heartbeat. Yes, d-men are volatile, but I think Karlsson is the super-elite exception to that rule......IMO 65 points would be worst case scenario for Karlsson in a healthy season (he would almost definitely still end up #1), and Ovi has already had a season that poor.

Here's how I'd peg their values:
90pts: Stamkos
80pts: Ovechkin
70pts: Karlsson
In a 12-team 8F/5D league, you need to establish your "waiver wire value".
#96F: 48pts (47pts this year, 49pts three seasons ago)
#60D: 26pts
Now the math:
A 90pt Stamkos is +42pts better than a 48pt waiver forward.
A 80pt Ovechkin is +32pts better than a 48pt waiver forward.
A 70pt Karlsson is +44pts better than a 26pt waiver defenseman.
You can do this with your own predictions of any player to evaluate.
Stamkos = Karlsson.
Both much better options than Ovechkin, IMO.

At first glance I would not keep Kronwall over JvR. Simply because JvR is going up and Kronwall is steady right now. I would prolly consider Goligoski over Kronwall. But if there is someone who has the math/stats to say Kronwal over JvR I am curious to hear, considering I own both.

I'd much rather have Karlsson than Ovie.
Stamkos is closer. I personally refused to move my Karlsson for his Stamkos last year (when Karlsson was injured), but I can definitely see the other side of the coin.
I would rather have Karlsson than Ovechkin. Actually, as a Karlsson owner, I wouldn't trade him for either straight up, but I would really consider Stamkos. Ovechkin, no way.

Yup, I traded Giroux for Karlsson without hesitation and would do the same with Ovi. As Dobber mentioned, Karlsson is the Crosby of defensemen, and I would trade almost anyone other than Sid to get him in most formats. In OP's instance, Karlsson >> Ovi.
