As a fan, I hope to be proven wrong here.
I agree with this. Lets be honest, he's a figure head for the Leafs now. Maybe it's just me but a President of "Any Organization" should probably have some sort of business background, not just a hockey background. Same for Trevor Linden.

These "moves" are nothing more then PR moves in my eyes. This should help the "business" end of things and help sell season tickets (like the Leafs need any help making any more money) but to describe someone like Trevor Linden or Brendan Shanahan as a President is nothing more then a farce in my eyes.

did you even bother to read the second sentence? i doubt anyone takes his contract, which is why he needs to be used as a 3rd liner.

and i could be wrong but i thought the new contracts can't be eaten, it only applies to those signed pre lockout?

so narrow minded, this isn't fantasy hockey we're talking about. your telling me there isn't a single team that has a bad contract they would also like to get rid of? a new start for two players that clearly aren't working on their teams? haha you are right, that's hilarious.

And also at 4 am the vitriol kicks in. I'm really surprised the big leaf fans I'm used to here haven't kicked in. I'm from stl where he played many years.... I always laughed when he joined the nhl and they talked about his integrity. I guess I'm a little old school.. I know leadership and integrity are not the same thing, but don't tell me the man has integrity when I personally know of three marriages he broke up. I love that hully is back in stl... Rant done.
