She's not... Rhaegar has the natural claim, and if he dies, his next descendent (ie child) inherits the claim. It goes downwards - not across the family tree. That's how royal succession works.

It also explains why in the books - the Kingsguard was guarding the tower when Lyanna was on her deathbed - instead of protecting the Queen (pregnant with Dany at the time) & Viserys. Because they knew the secret - that Jon was the rightful heir and by law they have to protect him. GRRM even hints this when he mentions Ned wondering aloud at the time why the Kingsguard was at the tower.

I hate to say it...but I think Jorah's not coming back. Not breathing, anyways.

Ahhh... I think at this late stage in the game, with EVERYTHING they are trying to wrap up on an accelerated timeline it would be ludicrous to introduce the "other" Aegon. Most of the viewers still haven't even wrapped their heads around Jon being a Targaryen yet.

Also - am I the only one who thinks this "expedition" with Gendry, Beric, Hounds etc came off as completely ridiculous and far fetched? I assume they are trying to tie up those storylines by killing all those guys as part of this raid, but it's so silly the way they executed it. Yes - Jorah seems like he's dead for sure - with all those overly sentimental reunion/goodbye scenes with Dany.

Lots of foreshadowing last night... that scene with Jon touching Drogon - loved it.

It is quite jarring when they jump so far ahead and don't fully explain things. Obviously because of the shortened seasons and the need to wrap up the story. Within 20 minutes or so Jon goes from petting a dragon to beyond The Wall with an odd assortment of allies. It did feel way too rushed in that respect (and other storylines).

I'm sure it's been explained in this thread somewhere but I haven't really heard why they are shortening it so much with the last 2 seasons. You would think the show warrants the budget.

With no books to draw side storylines from anymore, it shouldn't be surprising they are sprinting to the finish IMO.

Apparently a lot of it has to do with the massive raises the core 5 actors got. The actors for Dany, Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei and Jon all went from making about 200k an episode, to making over a million $ per episode. So unfortunately it may be down to budget, since these 5 also have deals where they will appear in every episode. So you're looking at 5 million per episode to pay these 5, where it used to be only 1 mill.
It hasn't been confirmed that this is the reason the seasons are shorter, but many have speculated.

    You're right. I stand corrected.

But when Rhaegar dies, doesn't the heir becomes Viserys, Aerys(Mad King) son? Jon becomes officially the heir when Viserys dies when Drogo pours melted gold on his face?

The first born son takes the cake in Westeros.
Thats why you dont want to be the 3rd or 4th son of a Lord, you'll likely never inherit anything yourself.

Interesting thought. Since it takes some amount of time to "turn", presuming he sacrifices himself to be the "evidence"

I would prefer if he just gets killed straight up (I'll puke if I have to endure another scene of Joran "sacrificing" for Dany's sake), and in a cruel twist of irony the good guys end up with no option but to take his wight as "proof". That would be satisfying.
