Runaway League Leader in Goalie Interference Penalties is...
I was looking through penalties today, always interesting.
I was surprised that Eric Staal is the league leader in "tripping" calls.
Not surprised that Blake Wheeler is among the league leaders in "slashing" calls.
The pylon-ic Radko Gudas & Tyler Mylers among leaders in "interference" callls... OK.
And a bit surprised that Ryan O'Byrne is NOT among the league leaders in "cross-checking" calls.
But the league leader in "Goalie Interference" has EIGHT of those calls, with the next highest amount at THREE!
If this stat is accurate, it's a pretty huge lead.
Anybody care to venture a guess?

I'm pretty sure when Gallagher got a goalie interference penalty against Detroit last week, they said that was his 11th one of the season. So someone is off, but easy to see why he leads the league.

I'd say Lucic, but history has shown that he doesn't get penalties for hitting the goalie.

I'd normally think it would be someone who parks their arse in front of the net, maybe someone like Patrick Hornqvist (but he rarely stays healthy long enough to get that many PIMs) but I am going with Chris Kunitz. Just a shot in the dark.

I checked high-sticking penalties and wasn't surprised: Brad Marchand with 9 this year. What a bum.

Haven't checked the link but it has to be Gallagher. Seems like he's called for those once every couple of games. Doesn't look like he's trying to hurt the goalies at all, he simply goes to the net ALL the time.
To be fair though, some of these penalties are 'reputation' calls which skews the stats. I recall at least one or two calls on Gallagher that were pretty borderline but were called simply because...well, it's Gallagher.
