Default drafting 5th in a new keep 4 baseball league, who to take?

league will be head to head with standard cats..
i dont think i'll be taking any ptiching in the first 2 rounds, i like to get some good bats early on..

I havent followed baseball too closely in the last couple years, so i could use some help

like i said i have 5th overall and i just want to get an idea of who the forum thinks i should take..
Maybe if we can rank the top 10 positional players you would take in a keeper league that would help me out lots and be much appreciated..

    Thanks

As always, it depends on whos still there and who didnt go in the first four picks.

Trout, Cabrera and McCuthen are my top 3. If any of them are still there at 5, grab him and laugh. I would be quite surprised if they are there though.

My next grouping in order of my ranking would be Paul Goldschmidt and then Bryce Harper.

Who ever from those 5 are available is who I would grab.

I've been burned by Tulo and his injuries in so many 1 year leagues I couldnt imagine taking him in a keeper. As long as they keep him at SS, I wont touch him with a 10 ft pole.

There is a injry risk, but he's a possible MVP talent at SS.
Harper gets hurt. Cargo gets hurt. Hanley gets hurt.
Tulo still has to be top 15.

    Trout
    Harper
    Cabrera
    Goldschmidt
    McCutch

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those guys.

Kershaw & Darvish are obviously #1 and 2 pitchers, if you want to go nuts. I can't recommend going nuts

For me there is a big drop off after the top 4

    Trout
    Miggy
    Mccutch
    Goldschmidt

I'd be very tempted to take Kershaw at 5 but I am a dodgers far so I might be nuts. I'd probably pump up Harper to the top 4 guys and hope someone bites. Harper is the fun pick at 5 but that's a high pick to spend on potential with no proven track record of being worth a first rounder

    Mike Trout
    Miguel Cabrera
    Paul Goldschmidt
    Andrew McCutchen
    Carlos Gonzalez
    Ryan Braun
    Clayton Kershaw
    Chris Davis
    Bryce Harper
    Adam Jones

Kershaw is the only pitcher I would take in the top 10 for sure.

If you can get guys who hit .280 and up and collect 30HR or more and 20SB or more you are getting pure value as the R and RBI totals will come.

Chris Davis is the 40-45 HR threat that is rare these days, 100+ RBIs and likely 90R but you have to deal with a .250 AVG and 200Ks...

Personally, if Goldschmidt slides to #5 somehow you will have a steal...
